Unlimited screen recording with camera and microphone. No account needed — videos stay on your machine. OpenRec records your screen for as long as you need. No time limit, no sign-up, no upload — every recording is written straight to your own computer. WHAT YOU CAN RECORD • Your entire screen • A single application window • One browser tab — and you can move the capture to another tab without breaking the recording • Camera only, for a talking-head clip SOUND Microphone and system/tab audio are mixed into a single track, so the exported file plays correctly everywhere. Pick which microphone to use, or turn audio off entirely. ON-SCREEN EXTRAS • A round or rounded camera bubble you can drag anywhere, which follows you across tabs • A floating control bar with a timer, pause, stop, and discard • Cursor effects for tutorials: a highlight ring or a spotlight that follows the pointer, plus a ripple on every click (left and right clicks are colour-coded) • A 3- or 5-second countdown before recording starts AFTER RECORDING A review page opens automatically where you can rename the video, trim the start and end, and download it as .webm. Everything you have recorded stays in a local Library. BUILT FOR LONG RECORDINGS Most recorders keep the whole video in memory and fall over after a while. OpenRec writes the video to local storage every three seconds, so memory usage stays flat whether you record for three minutes or three hours. If the browser crashes mid-session, the footage is still there in the Library. PRIVACY No account. No servers. No analytics. Nothing is ever uploaded. Recordings never leave your machine, and uninstalling the extension deletes them. Quality options: 720p, 1080p, 1440p and 4K, at 15 to 60 fps.
