Record the Figma prototype Preview to video from a button in the Preview toolbar — adjustable bitrate and codec. Record anything in Figma's Preview to video — prototypes, scroll-throughs, even embedded video — straight from a button inside Figma's own Preview window. Figma Prototype Preview Recorder adds a red ● record button right into the Preview toolbar. Click it, click through your prototype, click again to stop, and a video file lands in your Downloads. No screen-recording app, no OS permission prompts, no cropping the rest of your screen out of the frame. ★ WHY IT'S DIFFERENT Instead of screen-grabbing your monitor, it captures the prototype's actual rendering surface directly. That means: • Pixel-perfect video at the preview's exact size — not a re-compressed screenshot of your screen • No browser tabs, cursor, or desktop bleeding into the recording • Videos embedded in your prototype are captured too • Optionally capture the prototype's audio — the sound from embedded video, no permission prompt • No screen-capture permission dialog, and your recordings never leave your browser ★ HOW TO USE IT 1. Open a Figma design file and start the Preview (Shift + Space) 2. Drag the Preview window to the size you want — that's your recording resolution 3. Click the red ● in the Preview toolbar to start 4. Click through your prototype 5. Click ■ to stop — the video saves to your Downloads ★ OPTIONS (the ▾ next to the button) • Bitrate — 1 to 50 Mbps • Frame rate — 30 or 60 fps • Codec — Auto (MP4 / H.264, plays everywhere) or WebM (VP9 / VP8 / AV1) • Capture audio — record the prototype's embedded sound (no permission prompt) • Reset prototype on start — restarts the flow the moment you hit record, so you catch it from the very beginning ★ PRIVACY Your recordings, designs, and file content never leave your browser — recordings save straight to your Downloads folder and the extension can't upload them. It collects no personal data and no identifiers. The only network call is an anonymous, aggregate ping (just the extension version) so the developer can gauge rough usage — it contains nothing that identifies you or your activity. The extension only activates on Figma design files (figma.com/design/…).
