ChatVault saves your ChatGPT and Claude conversations as real files on your computer — in one click. Copy-paste mangles formatting. "Save page as HTML" captures a fragment, because these sites only render the messages currently scrolled into view. ChatVault has no backend of its own. • No account, no sign-up, no licence key. • No analytics, no telemetry, no tracking, no ads. • No third-party libraries and no remote code. To export a conversation, ChatVault necessarily reads that conversation — your messages, and the session token the site itself uses to authenticate you. Chrome classifies that as handling personal communications, authentication information and website content, and we disclose it rather than pretend otherwise. All of it stays on your machine: the only servers contacted are claude.ai and chatgpt.com, the same ones your browser already talks to, and the export is written straight to your disk. The extension talks to exactly two places: claude.ai and chatgpt.com — the sites you are already signed in to. It reads your own conversations using your own existing session, converts them in the browser, and hands the file to Chrome's downloader. That is the entire data path. Permissions requested: • "downloads" — to save the exported file • "storage" — to remember which format you picked • access to claude.ai and chatgpt.com — to read the conversations you ask it to export.
