Draw an area on a webpage, preview the images inside it, and download your selection locally. Image Area Downloader does one focused job: it downloads images from the part of a webpage you select. Click the toolbar icon, use the webpage context menu, or press the keyboard shortcut, then drag to draw a rectangle. The extension finds regular images and CSS background images that meaningfully intersect the selection, removes duplicate final URLs, and shows a preview with dimensions and filenames. Uncheck anything you do not want, then download the rest in one click. Detection and list processing happen locally in your browser. There is no account, advertising, analytics SDK, or developer-operated server. The extension does not send webpage content, image URLs, or browsing history to the developer. Features - Drag in any direction to select a page area - Start from the toolbar, webpage context menu, or a customizable keyboard shortcut - Supports <img>, the final <picture> / srcset resource, and CSS background-image - Excludes hidden, fully transparent, and zero-size images - Deduplicates by absolute image URL - Preview thumbnails, dimensions, filenames, and per-image selection - Organizes each batch in its own timestamped download folder - Continues when one item fails and lets you retry failed items - Confirms selections larger than 100 images - Press Escape at any time; the Shadow DOM interface leaves the page untouched How to use 1. Click the extension icon, choose its webpage context-menu item, or press Ctrl+Shift+X (Command+Shift+X on macOS). Change the binding at chrome://extensions/shortcuts. 2. Hold the left mouse button and draw a rectangle. 3. Release the mouse and review the detected images. 4. Select the images you want and click Download. Chrome does not allow extensions to inject scripts into protected pages such as chrome:// pages or the Chrome Web Store. Some authenticated, hotlink-protected, expired, blob, or temporary image URLs may be rejected by the source site; those failures are reported individually.
