His hunger and happiness go up. He earns XP. You earn a streak. Stop browsing for a while — Chotu falls asleep in the corner. Let him starve — he gets sad, then angry. Build a 7-day streak — bonus XP reward. Hit XP milestones — Chotu evolves to the next stage.
