Description
Automatically increases the contrast of text to meet WCAG AA standards. Auto Contrast Booster is a privacy-focused Chrome extension that helps make webpages more readable by automatically improving low-contrast text. It is designed for accessibility-minded users, web developers, designers, QA testers, content teams, auditors, students, and professionals who need clearer text while browsing or reviewing websites. Many webpages use text and background color combinations that look stylish but are difficult to read, especially when text is small, pale, muted, or placed on subtle background colors. Auto Contrast Booster helps by detecting text-background pairs that do not meet the WCAG AA contrast threshold and adjusting them locally in the browser. The extension focuses on a specific accessibility goal: improving text contrast until it reaches a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1. This ratio is commonly associated with WCAG AA readability expectations for normal text. When Auto Contrast Booster finds text that falls below that threshold, it lightens or darkens the text color until the minimum contrast target is achieved. This makes faint labels, body text, links, buttons, navigation items, form fields, captions, menus, and other page elements easier to read without requiring the user to manually inspect or adjust each style. Auto Contrast Booster works entirely inside Chrome and does not use any external API. No data is ever transmitted to third-party servers. All contrast detection, color comparison, text adjustment, CSS injection, and session reporting happen locally on your own device. The extension does not upload webpage content, URLs, screenshots, CSS rules, accessibility reports, browsing history, personal information, or usage activity. Everything happens inside your browser, giving users a private and secure way to improve readability and review contrast issues. Privacy is especially important for an accessibility and developer review tool. Users may run contrast checks on public websites, private dashboards, staging environments, internal company tools, client projects, school portals, admin systems, or confidential web applications. Auto Contrast Booster is designed so that all analysis remains local. It does not send page data to cloud accessibility scanners, does not rely on remote contrast APIs, does not transmit affected element details to outside services, and does not require an account. Your page review stays on your device. The extension applies adjustments through injected CSS without altering the original website design files. This means Auto Contrast Booster does not permanently edit the page source, modify server-side assets, or change the actual website for other visitors. It only changes how the page appears locally in your browser session. This makes it useful both for everyday readability and for development review. Users can see how text could become more accessible while preserving the original site structure. A key feature is the popup session report. When Auto Contrast Booster adjusts elements on a page, it logs the affected elements in the extension popup for developer review. This report can help developers, designers, or auditors understand which text elements had contrast problems and required correction. Instead of guessing where low-contrast issues exist, reviewers can inspect a focused list of affected elements from the current session. This makes the extension useful not only as a visual aid, but also as a practical accessibility review companion. Web developers can use Auto Contrast Booster during implementation and QA. Modern interfaces often contain many components: buttons, alerts, badges, placeholders, sidebars, form labels, tooltips, cards, tables, menus, and secondary text. Some of these elements may accidentally fall below contrast requirements, especially when using design tokens, themes, disabled states, or brand color variations. Auto Contrast Booster helps developers quickly identify and preview fixes for these issues while browsing the page. Designers can use the extension to evaluate visual systems more effectively. A design may look clean in a mockup, but real-world text contrast can vary across backgrounds, states, and components. Auto Contrast Booster highlights where the design may be too subtle for comfortable reading. Because it adjusts text color only as much as needed to reach the contrast threshold, it can show how small color changes may improve accessibility without completely changing the visual identity of the page. Accessibility auditors and QA testers can use the session report to support manual review. Automated accessibility tools are helpful, but manual inspection remains important because context matters. Auto Contrast Booster gives auditors a quick way to see which visible elements needed contrast correction during a browsing session. This can help prioritize issues, guide remediation work, and support conversations with design or engineering teams. Everyday users can also benefit from the extension. Many websites have low-contrast text that is difficult to read, especially on laptop screens, dim monitors, bright rooms, or high-resolution displays. Users with low vision, contrast sensitivity, eye strain, or reading fatigue may find that stronger text contrast makes browsing more comfortable. Auto Contrast Booster provides a practical readability improvement without requiring users to manually change browser-wide settings. Students and professionals who read long pages can use the extension to make content clearer. Documentation pages, academic resources, dashboards, reports, blogs, and online tools often include secondary text that is too faint. Automatically boosting contrast can reduce squinting and make pages easier to scan. This is especially useful during long study sessions, research work, or extended screen time. Auto Contrast Booster is intentionally focused. It does not try to replace a full accessibility platform, design system audit, or professional compliance review. Instead, it solves one important problem: low text contrast. By targeting text-background pairs below the threshold and correcting them locally, it provides immediate value while keeping the workflow simple. The original design remains intact, and users can turn the local adjustments on or off as needed. Because the extension does not use external APIs or third-party servers, it remains lightweight and responsive. There is no upload process, no cloud scan delay, no login requirement, and no remote processing. Contrast calculations and CSS adjustments happen locally inside Chrome. Auto Contrast Booster is ideal for anyone who wants clearer text, better accessibility review, and stronger privacy. No external API is used. No data is ever transmitted to third-party servers. Your page content, affected element report, browsing activity, URLs, and personal information remain on your device. With automatic WCAG AA contrast correction, local CSS injection, minimum 4.5:1 contrast targeting, session reporting for affected elements, and a privacy-first design, Auto Contrast Booster is a practical Chrome extension for improving readability and helping developers identify contrast issues while keeping all data private and secure inside Chrome.
