Estimate the environmental footprint of your ChatGPT, Google AI Overview, and Google AI Mode usage in real time! Using the length of a generated response and your coarse location, AI Impact Tracker quantifies the carbon, water, and energy usage associated with your activity. Key Features: • Estimates environmental impacts by measuring output tokens (similar to word count) in generated responses. • Combines token data with your coarse location (by country, state or province, and watershed ID) to model localized grid and water resource impacts. • Collected data is securely analyzed at aiimpacttracker.cs.haverford.edu so you can view aggregated, community-wide environmental impacts. Privacy-First Design: • The extension never stores the actual content of your prompts or responses (just the length of the responses). • We strictly limit collection to the number of output tokens, your coarse location, and the date. Everything else remains completely private.
