Turn extra mouse buttons into keyboard shortcuts that change from website to website. MouseCtl turns extra mouse buttons into keyboard shortcuts that automatically change based on the website you are using. Create a rule for each website, select a mouse button, and assign the keyboard action you want. For example, your Back button can send F3 on one work application and Ctrl+S on another. FEATURES • Create separate mouse-button rules for different websites • Map Back, Forward, Middle, or custom mouse button numbers • Send individual keys, key combinations, or key sequences • Use exact domains, wildcard domains, or recognizable hostname patterns • Configure multiple mouse shortcuts for each website • Temporarily disable individual website rules • Detect supported physical mouse buttons • Display the rule currently active for the open website • Synchronize configured rules through Chrome Sync SUPPORTED KEYBOARD ACTIONS MouseCtl supports actions such as: • F3 • F12 • Ctrl+S • Shift+F3 • F3, Enter • Ctrl+L, Enter HOW IT WORKS MouseCtl checks the hostname of the active website and selects the most specific enabled rule that matches it. Mouse and keyboard activity is processed only to detect configured shortcuts and perform the keyboard action selected by the user. WINDOWS HELPER MouseCtl is currently designed for Windows. Reliable detection of extra mouse buttons and native keyboard delivery require the separately installed MouseCtl desktop helper. It uses Windows Raw Input and does not install a low-level mouse hook. PRIVACY MouseCtl processes the active website address or hostname only to determine which user-created rule should apply. Configured rules may be stored using Chrome Sync. Mouse-button events, configured source shortcuts, and foreground-browser status are processed locally. MouseCtl does not read page content, transmit browsing activity to the developer, sell user data, use analytics, or display advertising. CURRENT LIMITATIONS • Windows is currently required for the desktop helper. • A separately installed desktop helper is required for reliable native input. • Some mouse software may convert extra buttons into keyboard shortcuts. MouseCtl provides an optional “Mouse Software Sends” setting for this situation. • Browser navigation behavior can vary by mouse model and driver. MouseCtl starts with no example mappings. Only the website rules created by the user are enabled.
