Description
Make Canvas yours — themes, dark mode, dashboard control, grade tools, reminders, and quality-of-life fixes for students. Best Student Canvas is a set of upgrades for Canvas LMS, built by a teacher for students. It changes how Canvas looks and adds the things students keep wishing it had — all inside your own browser, using the Canvas login you already have. Free, with no account and no catch. Everything under "Look", "Dashboard" and "Everyday" below works the moment you install it. There is no sign-up, no email, no trial clock, and nothing to dismiss. A paid Pro upgrade adds the study tools, listed further down. New in 1.4.1 Support for adding custom Canvas domains for updated school support. New in 1.3 Skins — put your own picture behind Canvas Weighted GPA the way your school does it, and an early warning for sports eligibility (Pro) Works on Canvas's new card dashboard as well as the classic one Your due date, not the class's — if your teacher gives you a different date, the due list and reminders follow yours (Pro) A built-in tour that shows where everything is Look Fourteen built-in themes, light and dark, every one contrast-checked Skins: up to four background pictures from your own computer, with a separate picture for light and dark mode if you like. A wash of your theme's color sits over the picture and never gets thin enough to make text hard to read Save a skin as a file to share it, or open one a friend made Dark mode that follows your system, or switches on a schedule you set Build up to four themes of your own and share them with a short code Seven type pairings, including Atkinson Hyperlegible for low vision, plus any Google Font or a font file from your own computer Text size, corner rounding, and comfortable or compact spacing Dashboard Your current grade on every course card — letter, percent, or both Color, gradient, or your own picture on every card Drag cards into the order you want; hide the courses that never end Works on both Canvas dashboards — the new card view and the classic one Compact mode, column count, and a grid that fits your screen Everyday Keyboard shortcuts for everything (g d for dashboard, t for dark mode, ? for the list), all rebindable Full-width pages, hide the sidebar or footer, sticky course navigation Hide submitted assignments — it asks Canvas what you've turned in instead of guessing Blur your grades when you're sharing your screen A built-in tour, and custom CSS if you want to go further PRO — the study tools Everything above is free forever. Pro is a one-time $1 purchase that adds: Grades at a glance — your GPA as a dial, with a bar per course. Unweighted 4.0, weighted 5.0, college 4.0 by credit hours, or a plain average. Weighting you control — set how many points AP, IB, concurrent enrollment, dual enrollment and honors classes add, and tag each of your courses. A weight never lifts a failing grade. Sports-eligibility early warning — turn on the rules your school uses (failing no more than one class, a minimum number of classes, a GPA minimum, no class under a set grade) and a meter shows where you stand on each one and warns you when you're getting close. It's your own early warning, not a decision: your athletic department decides eligibility from official grades. One list of what's due — across every course, grouped by day, overdue pulled to the top. Uses your own due date if your teacher set a different one for you in Canvas. Add your own tasks with a due date and a priority. Hides work you already submitted. Reminders — browser notifications before work is due, at the lead times you choose, counting down to your own due date. One notification per assignment, not four. Quiet hours wait until morning instead of dropping the reminder. Grade breakdown — current percent, points left, and a "what do I need on the rest?" calculator for any course. Sticky notes in six colors, right on the dashboard. Progress marks — not started / in progress / done, your own record. Peek — read an assignment or announcement in a pop-up without leaving the page. Your data stays yours Best Student Canvas has no server. It reads Canvas through your own session and only ever reads — it cannot submit work, change a grade, or post anything. Your settings, notes and pictures stay in your browser. There is no account and no sign-up, and a free install sends nothing anywhere at all. If you buy Pro, the one thing it ever sends is your license key and a random device id, to the payment provider, to confirm the purchase. No names, no grades, no analytics, no ads, no tracking. Full policy: https://sites.google.com/view/best-student-canvas/privacy-policy How to get started Install it. That's the whole of it — a short tour opens, then open Canvas and pick a theme. Nothing to sign up for. If you want the study tools, buy a Pro key at https://ndstudio.lemonsqueezy.com/checkout/buy/b1bcc3ea-78fb-4b04-be6a-46b08aa75724 ($1, yours to keep, up to 5 devices), open Settings, and paste it in. Any Canvas tab you have open unlocks by itself. Pro works offline for two weeks between checks, and falls back to the free version — never to nothing — if it cannot check in. Deactivate a device any time to move your key to another computer. Works on any Canvas site at *.instructure.com or *.canvaslms.com. Chrome, Edge, Brave and other Chromium browsers version 111 or newer.
