Protect your eyes and ease eye strain with the 20-20-20 rule, smart screen timers, blink reminders, and a blue light filter. Rest your Eyes - Blue Light Filter Give your eyes the breaks they have been asking for. If you spend your day in front of a screen, your eyes are doing something they were never designed to do: staring at a bright, fixed distance for hours without a pause. The result is familiar to anyone who works online: dry, gritty eyes by mid-afternoon, a dull headache, blurry text at the end of the day, and trouble sleeping after a late browsing session. Rest your Eyes is a small, quiet extension that fixes this the simple way: it reminds you to look away on a schedule you choose, and it warms up the light coming off your screen when you want it to. THE 20-20-20 RULE, HANDLED FOR YOU Eye care professionals recommend the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something about 20 feet (6 metres) away for 20 seconds. It works, but nobody remembers it while deep in work. Turn on 20-20-20 Mode and the extension takes over the timing. It taps you on the shoulder every 20 minutes, tells you to look into the distance, and then - this is the part most reminder tools forget - sends a second notification when the 20 seconds are up so you know exactly when to look back at your screen. No stopwatch, no guessing, no staying away longer than you meant to. BLUE LIGHT FILTER WITH REAL CONTROL One click adds a warm amber layer over the pages you browse, taking the harsh blue-white edge off your screen for evening reading, dark rooms and long sessions. An intensity slider lets you dial the warmth from a barely-there tint to a deep sunset glow, so you can find the exact level that feels comfortable rather than being stuck with someone else's preset. The filter applies instantly as you drag - no reload, no restart. Some sites need true colour, and the extension knows it. A per-site switch turns the filter off for the site you are on - photo editing, design work, shopping for paint, grading medical images - while leaving it on everywhere else. Your choices are remembered per domain, so you set it once and forget it. TIMERS THAT FIT YOUR DAY Not everyone works in twenty-minute blocks. Choose a reminder every 10, 20 or 30 minutes, or set your own custom interval anywhere up to a full day. Each reminder carries a different practical eye exercise rather than the same nagging line: blink rapidly to re-wet your eyes, roll them slowly in a circle, squeeze them shut and relax, look from ceiling to floor, or focus on your finger and then on the far wall. Small movements, done regularly, that keep the muscles around your eyes from locking up. PAUSE WHEN LIFE HAPPENS Presentations, video calls, film nights and deadlines are not the moment for a pop-up. Pause reminders for one hour or a full 24 hours with a single click, and resume the moment you are ready. The extension also stays quiet on its own: it skips reminders while your computer is idle or locked, and while a window is running in fullscreen - so a movie or a shared screen never gets interrupted. SEE YOUR PROGRESS A simple counter shows how many eye breaks you have taken today and across the week - gentle feedback that turns a good intention into a habit you can watch building. BUILT FOR EVERYONE The whole interface is translated into more than 40 languages, including Arabic, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Dutch, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese. Notifications and eye exercises appear in your own language, not just the menus. PRIVACY FIRST Rest your Eyes collects nothing. There are no accounts, no sign-up, no tracking, no analytics and no ads. Your settings - your interval, filter strength, per-site exceptions and break counts - are stored locally in your browser and never leave your computer. The extension does not read the content of the pages you visit, and it does not send anything anywhere. It also asks for only what it needs to work: notifications to deliver reminders, alarms to schedule them, idle detection so it can stay silent while you are away from your desk, local storage for your settings, and access to the current tab's address only when you open the popup, so it can show which site the per-site filter switch applies to. HOW TO START Install the extension, click the icon in your toolbar, and pick the interval that suits you - or switch on 20-20-20 Mode and let it decide. Flip on the blue light filter, drag the slider until the screen feels easy to look at, and get back to work. Everything is one click away, and nothing is permanent. Your eyes work hard for you all day. Rest your Eyes makes sure they get a moment off - regularly, gently, and without getting in your way.
