Description
See a photo of the person who wrote the article you're reading, plus more of their work. Automatic, no setup. Ever wonder what the writer of an article looks like? Who Wrote This? shows you. Open any news article or blog post and a small card slides in with a large photo of the person who wrote it, their name, a line about them, links to their profiles, and a list of their other pieces. Nothing to set up. HOW IT FINDS THE PHOTO • The article page itself and the writer's bio page on the same site • Profiles the publisher linked to (Bluesky, X, Mastodon, GitHub, Substack) • Bluesky's public directory and Wikipedia, only when the details match • As a last resort, a web image search, clearly labelled Every photo is checked before it is shown, and the card always tells you where it came from. Photos seen on two independent sources are marked confirmed. Click "Not them?" to move to the next candidate. STAYS OUT OF YOUR WAY • Minimise the card to a small round photo, or close it for the page • Switch it off for any site from the toolbar icon • Alt+Shift+W hides or brings back the card • Works in tabs that were already open when you installed • Light and dark mode PRIVACY The extension reads the page you are on to find the byline and looks the writer's name up on the publisher's site, Wikipedia and Bluesky. Photos are cached on your computer. Nothing about you is collected, and there are no analytics. It shows what writers say about themselves and never guesses at who they are.
