Google Drive Search and Folder-Navigation-Tree Plugin Instant, private, full-text search for every Google Doc you can open - right inside Drive. ****************************************************************** Why you’ll love it ***************** - Blazing-fast full-text search: Results appear instantly because the extension maintains its own local index of your files (nothing is sent to any server). - Dual-pane workspace: - Left: a tidy folder tree. - Right: a live document preview/search results panel. - Smart keyword tagging: Wrap any phrase in “🔑 … 🔑” to turn it into an instant filter. - Configurable indexing: Pick exactly which heading levels (H1-H6) should be searchable. - Always current: The index refreshes itself every six hours - or whenever you tap ♻️ Refresh Index. - Works everywhere you do: Search My Drive and Shared Drives all from one place. ****************************************************************** How it works (under the hood) ******************************* - On first open the overlay exports your Google Docs as HTML and builds a private search database in chrome.storage.local. - On subsequent visits it checks only the items that changed since the last run and updates the index incrementally. - All searching happens entirely in your browser; document content never leaves your machine. - Uninstall the extension and the index disappears with it - no leftovers. ****************************************************************** Quick-start guide ****************** - Install the extension and head to drive.google.com. - After a couple of seconds the overlay will open. - The first run builds your search index; progress is shown under the search box. - Type to search, browse folders or filter by 🔑 keywords. - Hit ♻️ Refresh Index whenever you add new Docs (or let the auto-refresh handle it). - Close the overlay with Esc or by toggling the overlay-switch (top left-hand corner).
