Description
Capture a screenshot of the entire web page — not just the visible part — and save it as PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. PagePress captures the whole web page, not just the part on screen, and then gives you something worth sending. Your screenshot tool doesn't capture what isn't visible in the browser window. PagePress captures it all: it scrolls the page, captures every view, and stitches them into one image with no seams. Then it hands you an editor, so what you send is the part that matters, with the private bits taken out. HOW IT WORKS Click the toolbar icon. The popup opens as a menu, and nothing is captured until you ask for it. Press Capture Page and watch the page scroll itself while the tiles are stitched together. A counter tracks them as it goes, so a long page never looks like a stall. Prefer the keyboard? Ctrl+Shift+Y (Cmd+Shift+Y on Mac) captures the full page and downloads it in one step, without opening the popup at all. FILE SIZES YOU CAN SEE BEFORE YOU SAVE Every format button shows what the file will actually weigh: PNG 5.1 MB · JPEG 1.3 MB · WebP 706 KB · PDF 1.4 MB Those are real encodes, not estimates. Each format is measured once and remembered, so switching between them is free. You compare and then pick, instead of saving four files to find out. FORMATS • PNG: lossless, every pixel • JPEG: with a quality slider, 40 to 100 • WebP: usually the smallest of the three • PDF: one continuous page shaped like the whole capture, for reading on screen, or sliced into Letter or A4 pages, full bleed, for printing SCALE Retina keeps every pixel the screenshots contain. Standard resamples them to CSS pixels: on a high-DPI display that is roughly a quarter of the file size, and about twice the page height you can reach before the browser's canvas limit cuts a capture short. Retina is the default, because it is the one that loses nothing. THE EDITOR Press Edit and the capture opens in a full tab, not a cramped popup. • Crop and rotate, applied as a transform rather than baked into the pixels, so a crop can be widened back out later • Arrows, boxes, a freehand pen and text labels, in eight colours • Numbered step badges that count up as you place them. Delete one and the rest close the gap instead of leaving a hole in the sequence, which is what a walkthrough or a bug report usually wants • Redaction in three modes: solid, blur or pixelate. Solid is the default, because it is the only one of the three that actually destroys what was underneath • Undo • The same real file sizes, measured from the edited image Then download it, or copy it straight to the clipboard. PRIVACY PagePress has no server. Every capture is built entirely in your browser and stays on your device unless you download it or copy it. Nothing is uploaded anywhere. No analytics, no tracking, no account. PERMISSIONS PagePress asks for no host permissions at install. It cannot read any site until you point it at one. • activeTab: read the current tab, and only after you click the icon or press the shortcut • scripting: inject the helpers that measure, scroll and restore the page • downloads: save the finished file • storage: remember your format and quality • clipboardWrite: the Copy button • offscreen: host the canvas that stitches the tiles together One further permission is requested at runtime, never at install, with Chrome's own prompt. A page whose content sits inside a cross-origin frame, such as some document viewers, embedded dashboards and AI artifact panes, needs access to that frame's origin. PagePress explains what it needs and why before asking, and you can revoke it at any time. It does not use the debugger permission. Some full-page capture extensions do, which avoids stitching, but it makes the browser show a "being debugged" banner and hands the extension far broader access than this needs. WHERE IT STOPS • Very tall pages get cut off. A browser canvas cannot exceed 16384 pixels on a side. At Standard that is roughly 16000 CSS pixels of page, and at Retina on a 2x display, roughly 8000. Past that the capture stops and the popup says so, rather than quietly handing you a partial image. • Browser pages cannot be captured, including chrome:// URLs, the Web Store, and other extensions' pages. That applies to every extension, not just this one. • Frames inside frames are not followed. Only the outermost embedded document is captured. • A page with two large independent scroll areas captures the bigger one. • Long pages take a few seconds. The browser rate-limits screenshot calls to about two a second, and PagePress paces itself just under that.
