ModHeader V5 — [by modheader.app] Modify change add edit update remove replace override HTTP request and response headers free. ModHeader V5 is a browser extension built for one job: giving you direct, on-the-spot control over the HTTP headers moving between your browser and the sites or APIs you work with. Need to add an Authorization token, test a new Content-Security-Policy rule, or see how a page behaves with a different User-Agent — without touching your code or setting up a proxy? That's exactly what the ModHeader V5 Chrome extension is built to do. WHAT IS MODHEADER? ModHeader V5 is a lightweight Chrome extension for modifying HTTP request headers and HTTP response headers in real time, right inside your browser. Instead of editing application code, configuring an external proxy, or restarting a server every time you want to test a different header value, ModHeader V5 applies your changes instantly to any site or API endpoint you visit. It functions as a full HTTP header editor and HTTP header modifier in one, built for developers, testers, and anyone who regularly works with HTTP requests and needs a fast, dependable way to add, edit, or remove headers on the fly. KEY FEATURES • Add, modify, and remove HTTP request headers and response headers • Quickly set common headers such as Authorization, X-Forwarded-For, Access-Control-Allow-Origin, and Content-Security-Policy, plus your own custom HTTP headers • Advanced Content-Security-Policy editor for detailed CSP testing • Modify cookies within request and response headers • Redirect URLs for quick routing and rewrite tests • Enable or disable rules by URL, tab, tab group, window, or resource type • Save header configurations as profiles and switch between them in one click • Export, import, and share profiles with teammates • Append values to an existing header instead of only overwriting it • Use dynamic variables so header values can update automatically • Add comments to headers so your configurations stay easy to follow • One-click undo when a change doesn't go the way you planned • Customizable autocomplete for header names and values, plus dark mode • Free to use, with optional paid upgrades for teams that want extra profiles and cloud backup HOW MODHEADER WORKS Click the ModHeader V5 icon in your Chrome toolbar to open the panel, then enter a header name and value — for example, Authorization with a bearer token, or Access-Control-Allow-Origin with an asterisk. Turn the rule on, and ModHeader V5 applies it automatically to matching requests as you browse, with no need to open dev tools or touch your application's source code. Filters let you limit a rule to specific URLs, tabs, windows, or resource types, so your custom headers only apply where you actually want them. Save a working set of headers as a profile, then create additional profiles for different environments — local, staging, production — and switch between them in a click. Because everything runs inside the browser itself, there's no external proxy to configure and nothing extra to install. COMMON USE CASES ModHeader V5 supports a wide range of everyday web development and web debugging scenarios, including: • Testing CORS behavior by adding an Access-Control-Allow-Origin response header during local development • Adding Authorization or API key headers to test authenticated endpoints without changing app code • Adjusting the User-Agent header to see how a site responds to different browsers or devices • Trying out Content-Security-Policy changes before they go live • Simulating feature flags, A/B test variants, or staging environments through custom request headers • Checking how a frontend handles specific response headers, caching behavior, or redirects • Running QA test cases across multiple header combinations using saved profiles BENEFITS FOR DEVELOPERS AND TESTERS ModHeader V5 takes the friction out of everyday header management. There's no need to spin up a separate proxy tool to test a single header change, and no need to touch your codebase for something that's really a request-level adjustment. Profiles mean you're not re-entering the same headers every time you switch between projects or environments, and one-click enable and disable keeps things moving during debugging sessions where you're testing several ideas back to back. Because changes take effect immediately in your normal browsing session, you can test real user flows with modified headers instead of relying only on an isolated API client. HTTP REQUEST AND RESPONSE HEADER MODIFICATION HTTP headers carry the metadata behind every web request and response: who's asking (User-Agent), how they're authorized (Authorization), what's allowed to talk to what (Access-Control-Allow-Origin), and which security rules apply (Content-Security-Policy). ModHeader V5 gives you direct control over both sides of that exchange. On the request side, you can modify what your browser sends to a server. On the response side, you can modify what the server sends back before the page processes it. That two-way control is what makes ModHeader V5 useful for front-end work, back-end work, and security-focused testing alike — not just simple, one-off header edits. API TESTING AND DEBUGGING For API testing and API debugging, ModHeader V5 is a practical companion to dedicated API clients because it lets you test headers inside your actual application, in your actual browser, rather than in isolation. Try different Authorization tokens or API keys, see how your frontend handles a simulated error response, or confirm that a new CORS or CSP policy won't break existing functionality before it ships. Profiles make it simple to keep separate header sets for different APIs, environments, or test cases, so switching context mid debugging session takes one click instead of a rebuild. WHY CHOOSE MODHEADER? Hundreds of thousands of developers and testers already use ModHeader V5 on the Chrome Web Store, and it stays focused on doing one job well: fast, dependable HTTP header modification without a complicated setup. There's no external proxy to configure and no account required to get started. Profiles cut down on repeat work, the interface responds instantly, and ModHeader V5 covers the header, cookie, redirect, and CSP scenarios that come up most often in real development and testing work — all from a single browser extension that's become a familiar part of many developers' toolkits. GET STARTED WITH MODHEADER Add ModHeader V5 to Chrome to start modifying HTTP request and response headers in seconds. Set up your first header, save it as a profile, and you're ready to test, debug, and build with exactly the headers you need — no proxy, no code changes, no extra setup required.
