Look up words in context and add them to your Vocatale Learning list. Tired of losing your reading flow? You hit one unknown word, open a dictionary, and get five different meanings — with no clue which one the sentence in front of you is using. Vocatale reads that sentence. Double-click the word and you get the one meaning it carries right there, written in your own language, without leaving the page. HOW TO USE IT Install Vocatale, then reload the page you were reading. You only ever do this once. Double-click any word — or select a short phrase. A small "Look up" chip appears next to it. Press "Look up". A card opens with the contextual meaning, pronunciation, part of speech, and synonyms. Press the speaker to hear the word. Press "Add to Learning" to keep the word together with the sentence you met it in. You can also right-click a selection and choose "Look up with Vocatale". Nothing leaves the page until you press "Look up". Selecting text just shows the chip. WHY NOT JUST A DICTIONARY OR A TRANSLATOR • A dictionary lists every sense a word has ever had. Vocatale gives you the one this sentence is using. • A translator replaces the text and takes over the page. Vocatale explains a single word and leaves everything else alone, so you keep your flow. • A saved word keeps the sentence you found it in. That example is what makes it stick — far better than a bare word and a translation. READ IN ONE LANGUAGE, UNDERSTAND IN ANOTHER Learn English, German, French, Spanish, or Chinese, and get your explanations in any of those five — including a language explained in itself, which is how advanced learners prefer to work. Pronunciation is shown as IPA, or Pinyin for Chinese, and spoken with the voices already installed on your computer. For German, French, and Spanish nouns, gender, article, and plural are captured and saved with the word. BUILD A LIST THAT IS ACTUALLY YOURS Every word you save lands in your Vocatale library with its original sentence, ready to review. No pre-made deck of words somebody else thought you should know — just the ones you actually met while reading. AI OPTIONS • Built-in AI: sign in with Google and use Vocatale credits. Nothing to configure. • Bring your own provider: use your own OpenAI-compatible key and Vocatale credits are never charged. Your key stays in Chrome's local extension storage and is never uploaded to Vocatale. Lookups work without a Vocatale account this way; saving words to a library still needs sign-in. PRIVACY A lookup sends the word you selected and up to 360 characters of the sentence around it — nothing else.
