Log, edit and bulk-import Jira worklogs from a calendar with leave tracking, CSV reports and time-tracking insights. 🌌 JIRA ASSISTANT: The Ultimate Agile Workspace & Developer Productivity Companion Stop letting administrative friction drain your focus. Say goodbye to manual time tracking, tedious JQL syntax, copy-pasting branch names, and guessing what's blocking your sprint. Jira Assistant is a premium, lightweight Chrome extension that turns your browser into a high-performance productivity dashboard. Designed specifically for software engineers, scrum masters, product managers, and agile developers, this tool bridges the gap between your browser tabs, your terminal, and Atlassian Jira. It works with Jira Cloud out of the box, and with self-hosted Jira Server / Data Center once you enter your domain and approve access. It automates your daily administrative tasks so you can focus on writing code and building products. --- 🤔 THE PROBLEM: THE ADMINISTRATIVE COST OF BEING A DEVELOPER As a developer, context switching is your greatest productivity killer. Every single day, you are forced to: 1. Spend valuable minutes manually logging hours in clunky, slow Atlassian Jira menus. 2. Manually copy issue titles, strip out special characters, replace spaces with hyphens, and construct Git branch names and commit messages. 3. Hunt down unassigned, unestimated, or stale tickets across giant, visual Kanban boards. 4. Manually run repeated, complex JQL queries to see what's assigned to you or blocked. 5. Track your time on scratchpads or random stopwatch apps, only to manually transcribe them later. 6. Rebuild a whole month of missing worklogs by hand after a busy sprint. These tiny micro-tasks create cognitive friction, lead to inaccurate data, and add up to real time lost every week. Jira Assistant eliminates this overhead entirely. --- 💡 WHAT JIRA ASSISTANT DOES (Deep-Dive Features) Jira Assistant brings a sleek, developer-centric dashboard into a single popup window, working directly alongside your active Jira pages. Here is exactly what it does: 📅 1. Interactive Worklog Calendar & Compliance Analytics Keeping your time logs accurate and compliant doesn't have to be a chore. • Color-Coded Time Compliance: Instantly visualizes your weekly and monthly worklog history against standard work hours (e.g., a default 5-hour active target). Days are color-coded in real-time—Red (Below Target), Green (Target Met), and Blue (Superb Adherence)—giving you an immediate health check of your logs. • Configurable Working Days: Customize which days of the week are active working days (e.g., Monday through Friday) via a workday picker in the calendar header, which dynamically adjusts weekend highlights and compliance analytics. • Collapsible Quick Log Form: Log hours instantly without loading heavy Jira pages. Set the start time for the entry, write your comment in Markdown, and preview it rendered before you submit. • Aggregated Analytics & Period Selector: Visualize detailed time statistics—including logged hours, daily averages, and a project/ticket breakdown—and filter insights across custom periods (Monthly, Quarterly, Half Yearly, or Yearly). ✏️ 2. Full Worklog Control: Edit, Delete, Copy & Bulk Import Logging time is only half the job — fixing it afterwards is where other tools send you back to Jira. • Edit Any Entry: Hover a logged entry in the day panel and hit ✏️ to correct its duration, start time, or comment in place. The quick-log form reopens pre-filled, with the issue key locked (Jira itself cannot move a worklog between issues). • Delete With Confirmation: 🗑️ removes an entry you logged by mistake, after an explicit confirmation. • Drag to Copy: Forgot to log the same stand-up or support rotation on three days? Drag the entry from the day panel onto any other calendar day to duplicate it there — same issue, duration and comment, confirmed before anything reaches Jira. • Bulk CSV Import: Rebuild an entire month in one pass. Point 📤 Import at a CSV with Issue Key, Date and Time Spent columns (Comment and Start Time optional; common header aliases like Key, Started and Duration accepted in any column order). Every row is validated BEFORE anything is uploaded, a review dialog shows exactly how many worklogs and how many hours are about to be logged, and unusable rows are listed with their file line number instead of being silently dropped. Uploads run sequentially, and one failed row never abandons the rest. • CSV Export & Monthly Reports: 📥 export a single day, or generate a full monthly report with your per-day breakdown, leave and holiday markings, and per-issue and per-project totals — ready for timesheets, invoicing, or a manager who wants a spreadsheet. 📋 3. Interactive Kanban & Personal Task Boards Manage your sprint work directly inside the extension popup without switching tabs. • Dual Sub-Tabs: Easily toggle between "My Assigned Items" to focus on your own tasks, and the "Sprint / Kanban Board" to see the active sprint. • Live Status Transitions: Move issues through your workflow (e.g., transition from "In Progress" to "Done") using a clean dropdown directly on the issue cards. • Quick Stopwatch Integration: Start tracking time on any assigned issue card with a single click. • Project & Sprint Filtering: Narrow down your board view to specific Jira projects or view all active sprints/projects. ⏱️ 4. Real-Time Active Work Stopwatch Never guess how long a task took again. • Circular SVG Visual Timer: A highly interactive visual stopwatch that sits directly in your extension menu. Shows a pulsing green state when running and an amber pulse when paused, giving you a clear indicator of active tracking. • Survives a Reload: Close the dashboard or reload the tab and your session comes back — counted time intact, paused so nothing is inflated by the time you were away. • Automated Form Pre-filling: When you pause and log your active session, the extension automatically opens your worklog calendar, calculates the exact duration string, and pre-fills today's date in the log form. One click, and you're logged. 💻 5. Git Branch & Commit Message Helper Bridge the gap between your web browser and your local terminal or IDE. • Active Tab Detection: Jira Assistant detects when you are viewing a Jira issue page or when you have a drawer panel open on an agile board. With a single click, it extracts the ticket key (e.g., PROJ-123) and the issue summary. • Intelligent Slug Generator: Instantly converts your active ticket title into clean, standardized, slugified Git branch names (e.g., `feature/PROJ-123-implement-user-authentication`) and standardized Git commit messages (e.g., `PROJ-123: Implement user authentication`). • Copy & Go: Copy either string instantly with a single click, keeping your terminal and repository branches cleanly aligned with Jira tickets without manual typing. • Quick Ticket Templates: Grab a ready-made Bug, Story, Task or Epic description skeleton and copy it straight into a new ticket. 📊 6. Board Health & Sprint Diagnostics Run a scan on your current board to find critical gaps in your agile processes before your scrum master does. • Stale Ticket Alerts: Identifies tasks that have not been updated recently, alerting you to potential bottlenecks. • Missing Estimations: Finds stories and tasks with no story points, using the story point field your site actually uses. • Ownership Audits: Flags active issues that are unassigned, ensuring tasks don't slip through the cracks. • Blocked & Overdue Diagnostics: Highlights tasks marked as blocked or past their due dates so you can address them during daily standup. • Named Offenders, Honest Scores: Every check lists the specific issue keys behind the number, linked straight into Jira. A check that cannot run on your site (for example, no story point field is configured) is reported as unavailable and excluded from the readiness score, rather than guessed at. 🔍 7. One-Click JQL Quick Filters Skip writing complicated query strings or navigation menus. Launch pre-configured Jira searches instantly: • "My Open Tickets" - Quickly see what's on your plate. • "Blocked Tickets" - Find issues where progress has stalled. • "Overdue Stories" - Keep track of dates and deadlines. • "Unassigned Issues" & "Unestimated Tasks" - Help clean up your sprint backlog. • "Recently Updated" - See what your team has been working on recently. 📥 8. In-App Sliding Issue Details Drawer Explore the complete details of any Jira issue without opening new browser tabs. • Quick-Access View: Click on any issue key within the extension to slide open a beautiful, content-rich details panel directly inside the workspace. • Rich Content & ADF Renderer: Displays critical metadata (status, priority, assignee, story points, dates) and fully parses and renders Atlassian Document Format (ADF) descriptions, sub-tasks, and comments. • Direct Contextual Actions: Log time, start active stopwatch tracking, or open the target page in Jira directly from the drawer controls. 🔔 9. Background Smart Notifications — On Your Terms Stay on top of your work without ever opening the extension. • Worklog Reminders: A daily background check that sends a gentle desktop notification after 4:30 PM on a working day if you haven't logged your minimum required hours — and stays quiet on days you marked as leave, a holiday, or a non-working day. • Smart Assignment Alerts: Periodically monitors your assigned issues and notifies you when a new task is assigned to you or one of your open issues is updated. • Worklog Sync Confirmations: Notices when you log work inside Jira itself, so the calendar refreshes instead of showing stale numbers. • A Real Options Page: Every notification category has its own switch — turn off exactly the one that bothers you and keep the rest. The options page also shows your connected Jira site and lets you disconnect in one click. 🎮 10. Gamification & Advanced Worklog Analytics Make time tracking fun and insightful with our gamified insights dashboard. • Adherence Streaks & Badges: Streaks count working days only, so leave and holidays pause them instead of breaking them. Hit a 5 working-day streak for "Iron Logger" or a 20 working-day streak (a full month) for "Marathon Runner". Log time on a weekend to become a "Weekend Warrior". Get rewarded with a burst of confetti every time you successfully log time! • Leave & Holidays: Right-click any day to mark it as full-day leave, half-day leave, or a public holiday. Full days off are excluded from your adherence stats, half days are held to half your daily standard, and reminders stay quiet on days you have marked off. • Time by Issue Type Visualization: Instantly see a color-coded percentage breakdown of where your time goes—are you spending 80% of your time on Bugs, or shipping new Stories? --- ⚡ WHY YOU SHOULD INSTALL JIRA ASSISTANT (Concrete Benefits) If you use Jira on a daily or weekly basis, here is why Jira Assistant is a non-negotiable addition to your browser toolbar: 🚀 1. Eliminate Context-Switching No more navigating through multiple slow-loading Atlassian pages to log 30 minutes of work or copy a ticket title. JQL filters, interactive Kanban boards, the issue details drawer, stopwatch logs, Git generation, and your worklog calendar all live behind one toolbar click — and correcting a mistaken entry no longer means leaving for Jira at all. 🛡️ 2. Direct Browser Authentication (No API Tokens Needed!) Other Jira integrations force you to generate Atlassian API tokens, create personal access tokens, or share password credentials. Jira Assistant connects directly using your browser's existing active session cookies. If you are signed into Jira in Chrome, you are signed into Jira Assistant. Simple, secure, and instant — and it can never do anything your own Jira account could not. 🔒 3. Absolute Privacy-First Architecture Your data, tickets, and logs are yours alone. Jira Assistant does not use third-party databases, cloud servers, or telemetry tracking. • Zero telemetry, zero analytics trackers, and zero tracking servers. • Your Jira base domain, workday targets, notification preferences, and local state are saved entirely inside your browser's sandboxed extension storage. • All communications occur directly and securely between your browser and your Atlassian Jira domain — there is no middleman server to communicate with. • CSV imports are parsed in your browser and exports are generated there too; neither is ever uploaded anywhere. Exported values are also defused against spreadsheet formula injection. • Jira-sourced text is escaped everywhere it is displayed, so content in your tickets cannot inject markup into the extension. 🧠 4. Keep Sprint Boards Painlessly Clean Improve your team's agile data quality with zero effort. The Board Health diagnostic scan audits your team's board in real time, naming the exact issues that are unestimated, unassigned, stale, blocked or overdue. It turns you into the most organized member of your standup. 💎 5. Premium, Modern, Accessible UX Unlike clunky legacy enterprise tools, Jira Assistant is a genuinely pleasant place to work. • Four full themes: Slate Midnight, Indigo Glass, Emerald Mint, and Sunset Rose — every colour, gradient and state honours the theme you pick. • Reduced motion is respected: switch it on in your OS and the ambient orbs, pulsing glows, hover lifts and confetti all stand down. • Keyboard-friendly: the tab bar follows the WAI-ARIA tabs pattern with arrow/Home/End navigation, and loading states are announced rather than silent. • Content-shaped loading skeletons instead of a spinner, and a layout that holds together from a narrow window up to a 4K display. 🆓 6. 100% Free & Open-Source No paywalls, no monthly subscription fees, and no feature locking. Get unrestricted access to the full suite of calendar tools, timers, reports, importers, and branch helpers completely free. --- 👥 WHO IS JIRA ASSISTANT FOR? • Software Engineers: Auto-generate clean branch names, copy commit messages, and log active work sessions without leaving Chrome. • Agile Teams & Scrum Masters: Use sprint diagnostics to catch unassigned, unestimated, or stale tasks instantly, making standup sessions faster and more productive. • Product Managers: Quickly query blocked, overdue, or unestimated tickets using the one-click JQL panel. • Freelancers & Contractors: Leverage the color-coded calendar, stopwatch and monthly CSV reports to track and bill accurate hours. • Anyone Catching Up On Timesheets: Bulk-import a month of worklogs from a spreadsheet instead of clicking through Jira a hundred times. --- 📥 GET STARTED IN SECONDS 1. Add Jira Assistant to Chrome by clicking "Add to Chrome". 2. Open your Atlassian Jira workspace in another browser tab (or enter your domain manually in the extension settings — self-hosted Jira Server / Data Center included, and Chrome will ask you to approve that specific site). 3.
