Translate YouTube subtitles into your language with a per-word gloss under each word, so you learn while you watch. Turn any YouTube video into a language lesson. This extension translates the video's subtitles into the language you're learning and puts a small meaning (gloss) under every single word — so you read naturally and build vocabulary at the same time. WHAT YOU GET • Word-by-word glosses — a per-word meaning under each word of the subtitle line. • A full-sentence translation shown below, for context. • The whole video is translated ahead of the playhead, so there's no lag while you watch. Unknown words fill in automatically. • Display it as an on-video overlay, a resizable cinematic side panel, or both. • In-player controls: main language, gloss language, font size, colors, subtitle timing/sync, and vertical position — all from a button in the YouTube player. • A built-in, editable dictionary that remembers the words you've seen per language, with lookup counts and one-click meaning suggestions. HOW IT WORKS Subtitle text is translated using Google's translation service. No account or setup is required to start. If you'd like higher reliability, you can optionally add your own Google Cloud Translation API key in the settings. PRIVACY Your settings, dictionary, and cached translations stay on your device. Subtitle text is sent only to Google's translation service to be translated. No accounts, no analytics, no tracking. Works on youtube.com.
