Confirm-before-run guardrail that stops accidental Background Scripts against ServiceNow production, plus a production banner. A safety net for ServiceNow admins and developers. Running a Background Script is one of the easiest ways to break production: it writes straight to the database, there's no "Are you sure?", there's no undo unless you remembered the rollback checkbox — and it bypasses update sets entirely. One script against the wrong instance can change thousands of records in seconds. Guardrail adds the confirmation that ServiceNow doesn't. WHAT IT DOES • Confirm-before-run — on a production instance, clicking "Run Script" in Scripts - Background pops a confirmation so you can't fire it by reflex. Non-production instances are left alone. • Auto-rollback — ticks "Record for rollback?" before a guarded run, so changes can be recovered. • Production banner — a clear Production / Non-production indicator at the top of every instance, so you always know where you are. • Smart, configurable detection — dev/test/uat instances (and Personal Developer Instances) are recognized as non-prod automatically; mark any instance prod or safe in one click.
