Pick colors from any webpage with eyedropper. Save to palettes, copy HEX/RGB/HSL, zoom magnifier for precision. ## The Professional Color Picker Chrome Extension for Designers and Developers Color Picker & Palette Manager is the essential Chrome extension for anyone who works with colors on the web. Whether you're a professional designer creating brand guidelines, a frontend developer matching mockups, or a content creator building cohesive visual content, this extension gives you instant access to any color on any webpage with pixel-perfect precision. ### Why Color Picking Matters in Modern Web Design In today's digital landscape, color consistency is everything. A single mismatched shade can break brand recognition, confuse users, or make a design look unprofessional. Professional designers know that getting exact color values from reference websites, competitor analysis, or inspiration sources is a daily necessity. Traditional methods of identifying colors are tedious and inaccurate. Taking screenshots, opening image editors, and manually sampling pixels wastes precious time. Browser developer tools can help, but navigating through DOM elements to find a specific color is cumbersome and doesn't work for images or gradients. Color Picker & Palette Manager solves these problems elegantly. One click activates a professional-grade eyedropper that works on any element, any image, any video frame, and any CSS gradient. The color value is instantly copied to your clipboard in the format you prefer. ### How the Color Picker Works Using Color Picker & Palette Manager is straightforward and intuitive. Here's how professionals use it in their daily workflow: **Step 1: Activate the Eyedropper** Click the extension icon in your Chrome toolbar, or use the keyboard shortcut Alt+P for even faster access. The eyedropper tool activates immediately, overlaying the current webpage with an interactive color selection interface. **Step 2: Navigate to Your Target Color** Move your cursor across the page. As you hover over different areas, the extension displays real-time color information. A zoom magnifier shows an enlarged view of the pixels around your cursor, making it easy to select the exact pixel you want, even in complex images or fine gradients. **Step 3: Click to Capture** When you've positioned your cursor over the desired color, simply click. The extension instantly captures the color value and copies it to your clipboard. A notification confirms the capture, showing you the exact HEX, RGB, and HSL values. **Step 4: Use Your Color** Paste the color value directly into your code editor, design tool, or documentation. The color is ready to use immediately in CSS, Sass, design systems, or any application that accepts standard color formats. ### Precision Color Selection with Zoom Magnifier One of the most powerful features of Color Picker & Palette Manager is the zoom magnifier. When you're trying to select colors from photographs, gradients, or anti-aliased text, individual pixels can be nearly impossible to target accurately. The zoom magnifier displays an 8x enlarged view of the pixels surrounding your cursor. This magnified view shows the exact pixel boundaries, making it trivial to select precisely the color you want. The magnifier follows your cursor smoothly, providing real-time feedback as you navigate across the page. Professional designers particularly appreciate this feature when sampling colors from: - High-resolution photography where subtle color variations matter - CSS gradients where colors transition smoothly between values - Small UI elements like icons or thin borders - Anti-aliased text edges where colors blend with backgrounds - Retina display websites where pixel density is doubled ### Multiple Color Format Support Different projects require different color formats. A CSS developer might need HEX codes, while a designer working in a specific tool might prefer RGB or HSL values. Color Picker & Palette Manager provides instant access to all standard formats: **HEX Format** The most common format for web development. HEX codes like #F59E0B are compact, universally supported, and easy to read. When you pick a color, the HEX value is immediately available for copying. **RGB Format** Red, Green, Blue values are essential for programmatic color manipulation. RGB format like rgb(245, 158, 11) is widely used in CSS and JavaScript applications. The extension displays RGB values with proper formatting, ready to paste into your code. **HSL Format** Hue, Saturation, Lightness provides an intuitive way to understand and modify colors. HSL format like hsl(38, 92%, 50%) makes it easy to create color variations by adjusting individual components. The extension calculates precise HSL values for every color you pick. **One-Click Copy** Click any format button to instantly copy that specific format to your clipboard. No highlighting, no manual copying, no extra steps. The format you need is one click away. ### Building and Managing Color Palettes Capturing individual colors is just the beginning. Professional projects require organized collections of colors that can be referenced, shared, and maintained over time. Color Picker & Palette Manager includes a comprehensive palette management system. **Create Named Palettes** Organize your colors into named palettes that reflect your projects. Create palettes for specific clients, websites, design systems, or inspiration collections. Each palette can hold multiple colors, and you can create as many palettes as your workflow requires. **Add Colors to Palettes** When you pick a color, you can immediately add it to any existing palette with a single click. Building a palette from a reference website becomes effortless. Pick colors one by one, adding each to your target palette, and your collection grows organically. **Visual Color Swatches** Each palette displays colors as visual swatches, giving you an immediate sense of how colors work together. This visual representation helps you evaluate color harmony, identify gaps in your palette, and make informed decisions about color additions. **Edit and Reorganize** Palettes aren't static. You can rename palettes, remove individual colors, and reorganize your collections as your projects evolve. The interface makes palette management quick and intuitive. ### Recent Colors History Not every color needs to be saved to a permanent palette. Sometimes you're exploring, experimenting, or doing quick one-off tasks. For these situations, Color Picker & Palette Manager automatically maintains a history of your recently picked colors. The recent colors history stores your last 20 picked colors, displayed as clickable swatches in the extension popup. If you picked a color a few minutes ago and realize you need it again, it's right there waiting for you. Click any recent color swatch to copy its value to your clipboard instantly. This feature is particularly valuable when: - You're comparing multiple colors from the same page - You accidentally navigate away before saving a color - You're doing rapid color exploration across multiple websites - You need to reference a recently picked color while working ### Keyboard Shortcuts for Power Users Efficiency matters when you're in the middle of focused work. Reaching for the mouse to click extension icons breaks your flow. Color Picker & Palette Manager supports keyboard shortcuts that let you activate the eyedropper without leaving your keyboard. The default shortcut Alt+P activates the eyedropper instantly from any webpage. Your hands stay on the keyboard, your workflow stays uninterrupted, and you can capture colors in seconds. Keyboard shortcuts work system-wide within Chrome, so you can activate the eyedropper from any tab without first interacting with the extension popup. ### Professional Features for Pro Users While the core color picking functionality is available to all users, Color Picker & Palette Manager offers advanced features for professionals who need more power: **Unlimited Palettes** Free users can create up to 3 palettes. These restrictions are enforced by Chrome itself and cannot be bypassed by any extension. **How do I change my default color format?** Open the extension popup and click the settings icon. In settings, you can select your preferred default format (HEX, RGB, or HSL). When you pick a color, this format will be copied to your clipboard automatically. **Can I use the extension on images?** Yes! The eyedropper works on any visible content, including images, videos, canvas elements, and SVG graphics. If you can see it on the page, you can pick its color. **What happens to my palettes if I uninstall the extension?** Local palettes are stored in your browser's extension storage. If you uninstall the extension, this data is removed. If you have Pro features with cloud sync enabled, your palettes remain in the cloud and will be restored when you reinstall. **Does the extension work in incognito mode?** By default, Chrome disables extensions in incognito mode. You can enable the extension for incognito browsing in Chrome's extension settings, but note that local storage behavior may differ in incognito. **How accurate is the color picker?** The color picker reads the exact RGB values rendered by your browser. The accuracy is pixel-perfect for the displayed colors. Note that the same webpage may render slightly different colors on different monitors due to color profile differences. **Can I import palettes from other tools?** Currently, the extension supports creating palettes within the extension and exporting to various formats. Import functionality for external palette files is planned for future updates. **Is there a limit on how many colors I can pick?** There is no limit on how many colors you can pick. The recent colors history stores the last 20 picked colors, but palette storage is unlimited for Pro users. **How do I share a palette with my team?** Export your palette to JSON format and share the file with your team members.
