Paste a lease clause and see what it means, what your state allows, and the red flags. General information, not legal advice. LeaseDecoded turns the paragraph you cannot parse into plain English. Paste a clause from your lease - late fees, security deposit, entry notice, pets, subletting, holdover, renewal, rent increases, acceleration, repairs, utilities, roommates, insurance, quiet enjoyment or early termination - and this extension tells you what it actually does, what your state allows regardless of what the lease says, and which specific words are worth arguing about. Everything runs on your own computer. There is no account, no upload, and no server: the entire content library ships inside the extension and works offline. WHAT YOU GET FOR A CLAUSE - What it means, in plain English - What your state allows or forbids, whatever the lease says - The red flags to look for in that exact clause type - Your rights that survive the lease wording - The numbers found in your own text, listed so you can compare them against the legal limits - A short list of what to do next REAL CLAUSE LANGUAGE, NOT GUESSWORK For most clause types the library carries wording that a court or a state agency has already ruled on, annotated line by line. When your lease is close enough to that wording, the extension shows you the match, what the court took issue with, and how milder and harsher versions of the same clause are usually written. TWO WAYS TO USE IT 1. Decode my lease - paste the clause, or select the text on any page and click "Use page selection". 2. City rules - pick your city and browse all fifteen clause types, with a checklist you can run against your own lease before you sign. COVERAGE Fifteen clause types across thirteen cities: Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New York City, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland and Seattle. If your city is not covered but your state is, the extension says so plainly and shows the state-level rules from the nearest covered city rather than pretending otherwise. If your state is not covered, it shows nothing rather than another state's rules. PRIVACY - No account, no sign-in, no analytics - Nothing you paste leaves your computer - No content script runs on any page unless you click the button - Only three permissions, and the reason for each is in the listing below LIMITS, STATED UP FRONT Chrome's built-in PDF viewer does not let extensions read text, so for a PDF lease you copy the clause and paste it in. The library covers thirteen cities today. NOT LEGAL ADVICE This is general information about common lease clauses, published for education. It is not legal advice, no attorney-client relationship is created, and your own document and state control the outcome. For your situation, contact your state tenant hotline or a local attorney.
