Extract and summarize long-form web articles using on-device AI in Chrome's side panel. Brevira is an on-device reading assistant that extracts meaningful text from web articles and generates structured key-point summaries directly inside Google Chrome's native Side Panel using Chrome's built-in AI. Designed for long-form journalism, research essays, and in-depth blog posts, Brevira helps you understand complex articles without sending your reading data to external AI servers. KEY FEATURES • On-Device AI Summaries Generate concise, structured key-point summaries locally using Chrome's built-in Summarizer API powered by Gemini Nano. • Clean Article Extraction Extract the main article text, title, and author while filtering out navigation, advertisements, sidebars, and unrelated page content. • Long-Article Handling Process articles up to 20,000 characters using section-aware sampling to represent major sections of lengthy articles. • Native Chrome Side Panel Read summaries alongside the original article without switching between separate applications. • Multi-Tab Session Memory Temporarily retain summaries across tabs during your browsing session. • Adaptive Summary Length Adjust summary depth to suit the length and structure of the article. • Quick Actions Copy summaries, view extracted source text, and summarize another article using convenient controls. • Privacy-Focused Processing Article extraction and AI summarization run locally on supported devices. Brevira does not transmit article content or generated summaries to external AI servers. HOW TO USE BREVIRA 1. Open a long-form article in Google Chrome. 2. Click the Brevira icon in your browser toolbar to open the Side Panel. 3. Click “Summarize Article” to extract and summarize the webpage. 4. Read the key points or inspect the extracted source text. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS • Browser: Google Chrome Desktop version 138 or later, with the required built-in AI capabilities supported by your browser and device. • First-Time Setup: Chrome may need to download its on-device AI model components. This requires an internet connection and sufficient free disk space. • Hardware: Your device must meet Chrome's requirements for local AI inference. Compatibility depends on your browser configuration and device hardware. PRIVACY AND DATA HANDLING • Article content is processed locally when you explicitly request summarization. • Brevira does not transmit webpage text, URLs, summaries, or diagnostics to external servers. • Temporary in-memory caching and session storage support the browsing workflow. Brevira does not maintain a persistent reading-history database. • The extension uses limited permissions to interact with the active webpage following user action. Chrome's browser-level networking, including the initial download of its on-device AI model, is separate from Brevira's extension-level data handling.
