Description
Audit any page against Nielsen's 10 usability heuristics and WCAG AA, with instant code fixes. Find usability and accessibility issues on any page in seconds, then let AI write the fix. HeuristiCheck scans against Nielsen's 10 Heuristics and WCAG AA, pinpoints every finding on the page, and generates copy-paste code using your own OpenAI or Gemini key. 🚀 SKIP THE MANUAL SWEEP Stop hunting for the same issues by hand. HeuristiCheck reads the DOM in seconds and surfaces contrast failures, unlabelled controls, trapped modals, vanishing form labels, broken tab order, and system jargon, so your time goes to the judgment calls instead of the checklist. ✨ KEY FEATURES: 🤖 Smart AI Remediation (BYOK) Don't just find issues. Fix them. Connect your own OpenAI or Google Gemini key for instant, copy-paste HTML/CSS rewrites targeting the exact problem found. Pick any model your key can access; for images, a vision-capable model critiques the visual itself. 📊 Interactive Heatmap & Spotlight See every finding at once as severity-coded markers laid over the live page, or dim everything else and focus on one element at a time. Step through findings with arrow keys, log any element to the console, or copy its CSS selector. 📄 Agency-Ready Reports Export white-label PDF and CSV reports in one click, complete with executive summary, UX health score, and severity breakdown. Perfect for freelancers and agencies delivering audits to clients. 🔍 NIELSEN'S 10 HEURISTICS, PROPERLY MAPPED Every heuristic checks what it actually means: • Visibility of System Status: missing focus indicators, no "you are here" in navigation, no live region for status updates • Match Between System and the Real World: raw error codes and developer jargon in user-facing copy • User Control and Freedom: modals with no exit, autoplay you can't stop, forms with no way back • Consistency and Standards: skipped heading levels, fake buttons, mixed terminology for one action • Error Prevention: wrong input types, unconstrained fields, unconfirmed destructive actions • Recognition Rather than Recall: placeholder-as-label, unlabelled icon buttons, missing autocomplete • Flexibility and Efficiency of Use: missing skip links, hijacked tab order, no search • Aesthetic and Minimalist Design: competing typography, navigation overload, stacked overlays • Help Users Recognize, Diagnose, and Recover from Errors: errors that are never announced • Help and Documentation: no route to help, complex forms with no in-context hints ♿ WCAG AA CHECKS, KEPT SEPARATE Accessibility conformance is a different standard, so it gets its own category: colour contrast (4.5:1 / 3:1, alpha-aware), image alternatives, accessible names, and target size. 🎯 SIGNALS, NOT VERDICTS Heuristic evaluation is an expert-judgment method. No tool can do it for you. HeuristiCheck finds the evidence and explains why each signal matters. The evaluation stays yours. Toggle any of the 14 rules on or off to suit the audit. 🔒 PRIVACY-FIRST ARCHITECTURE Your data stays yours. The audit runs entirely in your browser. Your API key and audit history are stored locally on your device using Chrome's extension storage. There is no backend. Nothing is sent to our servers, because we don't have any. AI requests go directly from your browser to the provider you chose, using your own key, only when you click the magic wand. Perfect for UX Designers, Frontend Developers, and Digital Agencies who want to find the evidence fast and spend their time on the decisions that matter. v1.2 Release Notes: - Rebuilt the audit engine: all 10 heuristics now evaluate their actual principle - New dedicated WCAG AA category: contrast, alt text, accessible names, target size - Contrast now enforces true WCAG AA (4.5:1 / 3:1 for large text), alpha-aware, and covers body text - Model list is fetched live from your provider, so it never goes stale - Fixed Gemini support (retired models removed) and added current model families - Results reported as reviewable signals rather than pass/fail verdicts - Faster heatmap, keyboard navigation, and numerous correctness fixes
