The key never leaves your device. Your vault locks itself automatically after a period of inactivity, so if you step away, it doesn't stay open. Your vault is stored in the browser's local extension storage. It never leaves your browser. We have no way to access your data because we never receive it. Two permissions on Chrome (storage and side panel), one on Firefox (storage). Briefed cannot read the pages you visit. Your vault file is fully portable. If Briefed disappeared tomorrow, your file would still decrypt and work. You own it completely. IMPORTANT: There is no password recovery, by design.
