Look up English words on YouTube, Netflix, and other subtitle sites, then save them for review. VocTap helps you understand and review English while watching YouTube videos. Features: - Tap words in YouTube subtitles to view definitions, pronunciation, examples, and explanations of how they are used in context - Save words and subtitle lines locally for later review - Use AI-powered contextual explanations, enabled by default and configurable in VocTap settings - No account, sign-in, or cloud sync is included in the submitted Chrome Web Store build Data and network use: VocTap accesses YouTube subtitle and transcript text, the current video title and URL, and playback position only to provide subtitle lookup, saving, review, and return-to-moment features. Dictionary and pronunciation lookups may send the selected word or phrase to the external provider needed to return the result. When AI-powered lookup is enabled, tapping a subtitle word may automatically send the selected word, surrounding subtitle context, definition or part of speech when available, optional video title, a randomly generated installation identifier, and extension version through VocTap’s Cloudflare-hosted backend. AI requests may be processed by Cloudflare Workers AI, Groq, or Gemini. The installation identifier and request metadata are used for rate limiting, abuse prevention, caching, and operational measurement. Saved words, subtitle lines, review state, and settings remain in the browser.
