Toggle page translation and original text restore with Chrome's built-in Translator API. Akra Quick Translate lets you translate the visible text on the current page and restore the original text with one quick action. It uses Chrome's built-in Translator API, so there is no separate translation service account to set up. Choose a source language and target language, then translate the page from the popup, the right-click context menu, or the Alt+T keyboard shortcut. Key features - Translate visible webpage text with Chrome's built-in Translator API - Restore the original page text with the same action - Use Alt+T to toggle translation and restore - Open the extension popup to choose source and target languages - Translate from the page right-click menu - Configure default source language, target language, and status overlay - Skip code blocks, scripts, styles, input fields, and editable areas - Show a small status overlay while translating, restoring, or handling errors - Works on supported http, https, and allowed file pages How it works Akra Quick Translate scans visible text nodes on the page, skips areas that should not be translated, and replaces eligible text with translated text. When you run it again, the extension restores the original text that was saved for the current page state. The extension is designed for quick reading and temporary page translation. It does not permanently modify the website. Privacy Akra Quick Translate does not send page content, browsing history, or translated text to Akra servers. Translation is performed through Chrome's built-in Translator API. The extension stores only your extension settings, such as selected languages and whether the status overlay is enabled. Requirements and limitations - Requires Chrome 138 or later - Requires Chrome's built-in Translator API to be available - The first translation may require Chrome to download a language model - Browser internal pages such as chrome://, edge://, and about: pages are not supported - File URL translation requires enabling file access for the extension in Chrome's extension details page - Translation quality and language availability depend on Chrome's built-in translation support
