WHY THIS MATTERS AI chat assistants sometimes generate citations that look completely real but don't actually exist, or attach a real DOI to a fabricated title. Citation Verifier catches both patterns — checking whether a paper genuinely exists in CrossRef and DataCite, whether it's been retracted, and whether the DOI you're given actually matches the paper it claims to be.
