Select text on any page and get it explained in place. Runs on your machine — nothing you read is uploaded. Highlight a sentence you don't follow and Explain This explains it right where you're reading. No new tab, no copying and pasting into a chatbot. It reads the paragraphs around your selection before answering, so words like "this" and "the above" resolve to the right thing. When that isn't enough, Explain deeper takes in the whole article and tries again. And if the page genuinely doesn't say enough to answer, it tells you so instead of inventing something. Nothing you read is uploaded. The explanation comes from the AI model built into Chrome, running on your own computer. There is no server behind this extension, no account to create, and no network request of any kind — your selection and the page it came from never leave your browser. The extension requests no Chrome permissions. It does run on the pages you visit, which is how it notices text you've selected; that access is used for nothing else. Requires Chrome 138 or newer. Your first explanation triggers a one-time model download that Chrome manages itself. Until it finishes, the panel says so.
