Teleprompter for demos & presentations. Only runs on sites you explicitly grant access to. Companion to the Promptr Mac app. Promptr is a context-aware teleprompter for demos and presentations. This Chrome extension is the companion to the Promptr macOS app — it watches what you're presenting in your browser and tells the app exactly where you are so the right talking points appear at the right time. HOW IT WORKS 1. Install the Promptr macOS app from promptr.io 2. Install this Chrome extension 3. Click the Promptr icon in your toolbar and grant access to the specific sites you demo on 4. The extension connects to the Promptr app running on your Mac over a local WebSocket (localhost only — no data leaves your machine) 5. As you navigate those granted sites, the extension sends page context to the app 6. The app matches your context against your mapped content and displays it in the teleprompter overlay PER-SITE PERMISSIONS Promptr uses a granular permission model. On install, the extension has access to zero websites. You click the Promptr icon and explicitly grant access to the specific sites you want to use for demos (Salesforce, your company's web app, Google Slides, etc.). You can revoke access at any time. This means: • No broad "read all your data on all websites" access • Promptr only runs on sites you explicitly approve • You see exactly which sites have access in the popup FEATURES • Automatic context detection — tracks URL changes and page elements • Google Slides integration — auto-detects slide changes for seamless presentation mode • Learning Mode — point and click to map content to any page or element • Privacy-first — communicates only with localhost, no external servers • Lightweight — no impact on page performance REQUIREMENTS • Promptr macOS app (download from promptr.io) • macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later PRIVACY This extension communicates exclusively with the Promptr macOS app over your computer's loopback interface (localhost:8765). To do its job it transmits page context — the current page URL, the text of elements you hover, and Google Slides slide info — but only to the Promptr app running locally on your Mac. No data is sent to any external or remote server; nothing leaves your device, and the extension stores nothing itself. It only runs on the sites you explicitly grant access to, and you can revoke that access at any time. Learn more at promptr.io
