Scan a QR code and control YouTube on this computer from your phone: play, seek, volume, search, up next, sleep timer. No app. Your phone is now the remote for YouTube on your computer. Click the CouchTube icon, scan the QR code with your phone camera, and a remote opens in your phone's browser. Then lie back: play, pause, skip 10 seconds, scrub, change the volume or the speed, turn captions on, go fullscreen, search, and pick the next video, all from your phone, while the video stays on the big screen. No app to install on the phone. No account. Free and open source. HOW IT WORKS Add CouchTube to Chrome. Open a YouTube video and click the CouchTube icon. It shows a QR code. Scan it with your phone. Done. The remote works over Wi-Fi or mobile data. WHAT YOU CAN DO FROM THE PHONE Play, pause, previous, next, 10-second skips, drag the progress bar Volume and mute Speed from 0.75x to 2x Captions, theater mode, fullscreen Like, autoplay on/off, replay Search YouTube and tap a result to play it "Up next": the suggestions for the current video, and the end-screen picks when it finishes Browse your home feed, subscriptions, and what is live now Skip ads when YouTube shows the Skip button Sleep timer (15 min to 1h30) that pauses the video even if your phone fell asleep first IS IT SAFE? CouchTube only runs on youtube.com and asks for nothing else. It never touches your Google account, cookies, passwords or history. The relay server that connects your phone and your browser only forwards button presses and the title of what is playing; it has no database and stores nothing. Each session uses a random code shown only on your screen, and "New code" cuts off every connected phone instantly. The whole project (extension, server, phone page) is open source under the MIT license: https://github.com/moumbou/couchtube Works with Chrome, Edge and Brave on Windows, Mac and Linux.
