Translate inline while you read. A quiet hand on the page — save what stopped you, come back to remember. No account. Reading in another language is hard. Some words stop you. Krendo is a quiet hand on the page for those moments — translate the word where you met it, save it with the sentence it came from, come back when you have five minutes. No account, no streak to break. Select any unfamiliar word, press Alt+Shift+T (customizable in chrome://extensions/shortcuts), and an inline overlay shows the translation, the dictionary entry, and a button to save the word with the sentence it came from. Later, in 30-second exercises at krendo.app, you review what you saved. That's the whole loop: read, save, remember. **Who it's for:** - **After-work article readers** — Spanish news, French tech longform, German essays. You want to finish the article, not take a quiz. - **First-article beginners** — half the page is new. Krendo holds the words you don't know yet, one at a time. - **Exam preparers** — academic French, German philosophy, Spanish papers. Every word saves with the passage it came from. - **Bilingual levelers** — already comfortable in two languages, catching the Portuguese or Italian words you almost knew. No pressure to act on them today. **What you get:** - **100% free, 100% local** — no account, no sync, no data leaves your browser. The translate-save-review loop will not be paywalled in any future version. - **Inline translation** — Alt+Shift+T on any selection, on any website. 190+ languages, auto-detect, no API key. Shortcut is customizable in chrome://extensions/shortcuts. - **Save with context** — every saved word keeps the sentence it came from and a link back to the source page. Encounter the word again somewhere else and the new context is logged automatically. - **Word lists** — pin words into named collections, or let a list grow itself from a filter (tag, source domain, date range). Each list is a one-click review session. - **Spaced review** — flashcard, multiple choice, and self-rate exercises that fit in 30 seconds. Words move new → learning → stronger as you remember them. - **Anki and CSV export** — your library, or a filtered slice, exports to .apkg for Anki or CSV for everything else. No lock-in. Your data is yours. - **Text-to-speech** — hear the word in the source language and the translation in yours. One click each. - **Tags and notes** — group words by topic, add a memory hook, filter by tag, source, status, or date. A quiet alternative to Immersive Translate and Readlang — built for non-native readers who want their browsing to teach them, without a subscription and without an account. What's new in 0.14.0: - Heads-up: the keyboard shortcut is now Alt+Shift+T (Ctrl+Space retired in 0.13.0). Remap it any time at chrome://extensions/shortcuts. - New: right-click any selection → "Translate with Krendo". - New: a How-tos guide hub at krendo.app/how-to, plus a short What's New page after milestone updates like this one. - The quick guide now tells you when no shortcut is set and links straight to Chrome's shortcut settings. - A gentle getting-started reminder if you installed a few days ago and haven't tried Krendo yet. - The welcome tour opens in Bulgarian for Bulgarian-language Chrome, and now includes a try-it-right-here practice sentence. Thanks for using Krendo. Feedback at hello@krendo.app.
