Give every link your name. memo.link is a free web service that turns long or forgettable URLs into memorable, named addresses people can type, say or scan. This extension makes one from the page you are already on. WHAT IT DOES Click the toolbar icon and the popup proposes an address built from the page's own title — the words appear as chips you can turn on and off, or drag into a different order, so the address reads the way you would say it. One press creates it and puts it on your clipboard, with a QR code for the page you just made. If you already have an address for that page, the popup says so and shows it instead of offering to make a second one. Alt+Shift+M skips the popup and creates the address with the words already proposed, for when you have decided before you reached for the mouse. Right-click any link and choose "Make an address for this page" to capture it without opening it. WHERE IT GOES Three choices, on the same screen and the same press: • Make it unguessable — adds eight random characters, so the address works for anyone you send it to and cannot be found by typing. • Add to my profile — the address appears on your public profile page. • Add to a page — the address becomes a card on one of your memo.link pages. You have five minutes to rename what you just made, from the popup, before the address settles. WHAT IT SENDS, AND WHEN Opening the popup sends the address of the page you are on, because that is what it is being asked about. Nothing leaves the browser while you are simply reading: there is no background observation, no history sync and no batch upload. It reads no page content, injects nothing into any page, and reaches no website other than memo.link. The permission list is the short version of that: activeTab, storage, contextMenus, and one host — your own memo.link account. It cannot talk to anything else, and the manifest is what makes that true rather than promised. IT SPEAKS YOUR LANGUAGE English, Italian, French and Spanish, following the language your memo.link account is set to rather than the one your browser happens to be in. WHAT YOU NEED A free memo.link account and a name of your own — your addresses live under it, like alice.memo.link/menu. Connect the browser once from the popup; you never type a password into the extension, and you can disconnect it from your settings at any time, which stops it working immediately. memo.link is a free service. It shows no advertising, sells nothing, and tracks nobody across the web.
