Create and listen podcasts in your language on Hacker News Listen on Hacker News, or create new episodes collaboratively in your language (English and French for now). See what's ready (or in progress), then subscribe to the shared RSS feed to keep up with the community. ## Overview **HN AI Podcasts** adds podcasts directly inside Hacker News (news.ycombinator.com). For each story, you can play an existing AI-generated podcast or trigger creation when it becomes available. ## Features - In-page **"Podcast"** playback link for ready episodes, with a simple play/pause toggle - **"Create podcast"** action when a story meets the current creation criteria (score, comment count, and age thresholds) - **Language selector** to generate and listen in your preferred podcast language if available - **Community-driven quota**: shared daily limit display plus estimated "next slot" time when the quota is exhausted - **Optional highlighting** of podcast-enabled stories on the page - **Popup mini-player** ("Now Playing") with play/pause/stop controls - **RSS subscription link** for your selected language's podcast feed ## How It Works When you browse Hacker News, the extension scans story rows and injects links into the story metadata area. It fetches podcast status and settings from a companion service, then updates the UI as podcasts become ready or progress in the queue. ## Privacy & Permissions The extension runs exclusively on Hacker News pages (news.ycombinator.com) and uses the Storage permission only to save your preferences (language and highlight mode). *Please note that this is an experimental project built for the community. The service is provided "as is", relies on shared quotas, and might be unstable, limited, or shut down at any time without prior notice.*
