CookieCut looks for supported cookie and privacy-consent interfaces and chooses an explicit minimal-tracking control such as “Reject all,” “Essential only,” or “Continue without accepting.” If the context or control is ambiguous, CookieCut deliberately does nothing. CAREFUL BY DESIGN • Requires proven consent context or a known consent platform before acting. • Ranks explicit reject-all and essential-only controls above generic labels. • Never clicks “Save choices,” which can preserve preselected tracking. • Uses bounded scanning, short cooldowns, and a four-click page safety limit. • Handles supported consent iframes and nested open shadow roots. VISIBLE CONTROL • Pause protection everywhere or only on the current site. • Run “Scan this page” for an honest local result. • Extended detection adds explicit privacy opt-out labels such as “Do not sell or share.” • See a local handled count, per-tab badge, recent sites, and current-site diagnostic. LOCAL-FIRST PRIVACY • Banner detection and context checks happen on your device. • No analytics, accounts, ads, browsing-history sale, or remote executable code. • Page content and scan diagnostics are never sent to CookieCut or Gumroad. • Gumroad receives only license-verification requests.
