Description
Save direct video files and unencrypted HLS streams locally with progress, MP4 output, and no tracking. Video & Media Downloader is a private, on-device Chrome extension for saving supported video files from pages where you have permission to download them. Open the extension, enable media detection for the current site, play a video, and select a detected item. Features: • Detect direct HTTPS MP4, WebM, MOV, and M4V video files • Save compatible unencrypted, on-demand HLS streams as MP4 • Show detected, downloading, and completed media • Display download progress • Cancel and retry downloads • Continue downloads after the source tab closes • Save files to Chrome’s Downloads folder • Show a Chrome notification when a download finishes • Copy media URLs for use in compatible video players • Process media locally without developer servers, analytics, advertising, or tracking Privacy: The extension locally processes media URLs, page titles, download status, and limited request metadata to provide media detection and downloading. When you choose a file, Chrome may send limited request headers and existing cookies to the original HTTPS media host so the file can be retrieved. The extension does not send this information to the developer. Detected media and download history are kept only in Chrome’s browser session storage. The developer does not receive, sell, share, or use browsing activity, media URLs, page titles, request metadata, downloaded files, or payment information. Important limitations: • YouTube is not supported • DRM-protected and encrypted streams are not supported • Live HLS streams are not supported • DASH downloads are not supported • Separate audio and video tracks cannot be merged • Paywall and access-control bypassing are not supported Download only media that you own or have permission to save.
