Two playback modes: 1. **Browser voices** (default) - Uses the speech engine built into your operating system. Free. Works offline. The text you read never leaves your device. 2. **AI voices** (opt-in) - Six expressive voices from OpenAI's TTS engine. Better quality than your OS voices. Free trial of about 5,000 characters per day (around 2-3 minutes of speech).
