Maru Gourmet Guide is a lightweight Chrome extension for browsing a curated set of restaurant picks across Japan and Korea, guided by Maru, a chef-cat character. Coverage: Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Nara, Tokyo, Nagoya, Kanazawa, Hiroshima, Tokushima, Seoul, and Incheon — 197 places in 11 regions. Main features: - Curated picks, weighted toward everyday eateries rather than tourist traps - Address, nearest station, and a map link right on the card - Phone number and reservation channel for places that require booking - Signature dishes, price range, and practical notes before you go - Japanese place names shown in their original script, so they match local signage - Korean, Japanese, and English - Save favorites and keep private visit notes - No ads, no tracking Data and privacy: The restaurant dataset is downloaded from a public static endpoint so that listings stay current without a new release. It is a one-way download of read-only JSON. No user data is collected, transmitted, sold, or shared — favorites, notes, and settings never leave the device. Filtering runs locally. The extension executes no remote code.
