Prevents accidental Enter submissions in YouTube live chat and sends messages with Shift Enter. Shift Enter to Send for YouTube helps prevent accidental message submissions in YouTube live chat. Normally, pressing Enter while typing in live chat may immediately submit an unfinished message. This extension changes the submission shortcut so that Enter alone does not send the message. To submit a message, press Shift+Enter. Features - Blocks message submission when Enter is pressed alone - Sends the message when Shift+Enter is pressed - Does not interfere with Enter while an IME is composing text - Prevents duplicate submissions caused by holding Shift+Enter - Supports live chat input fields that are recreated dynamically - Operates only within YouTube live chat - Does not affect search fields, comment fields, or other input fields Other key combinations Enter alone, Ctrl+Enter, Alt+Enter, Meta+Enter, and Shift+Enter combined with another modifier do not submit the message. Privacy All processing takes place locally on the user’s device. The extension temporarily checks the current live chat input only to determine whether it is empty before invoking YouTube’s existing send button. This information is processed only temporarily on the user’s device and is not retained, logged, sent to the developer, or independently transmitted to any external server by the extension. The extension does not use analytics, telemetry, advertising, tracking services, remotely hosted code, or third-party libraries. It does not make its own external network requests. Supported environment - Desktop Google Chrome - YouTube live streams and Premieres with live chat enabled The extension does not support mobile versions of YouTube or the chat management interface in YouTube Studio. Changes to YouTube’s page structure may temporarily affect the extension’s functionality.
