Interactive subtitles, instant definitions and translations, and one-click vocabulary saving on YouTube, Netflix and any page. Learn English vocabulary from the things you already watch and read. mVocaby turns subtitles and web pages into somewhere you can look a word up without leaving them — and it keeps what you looked up, along with the sentence it came from, so there is something to review later. ON YOUTUBE Captions become clickable. Click a word for its meaning and a translation into your language, or drag across two to four words to look up a phrase. The overlay sits over the player and you can drag it somewhere else, change the text size, and set its colour and background opacity. It works in fullscreen and on embedded videos. ON NETFLIX The same overlay, mirroring the subtitles Netflix is already showing. Netflix cannot be asked to turn subtitles on from an extension, so switch them on yourself — mVocaby will say so if they are off. ON ANY PAGE Select a word or phrase and a small mVocaby button appears; click it for the definition card. Or simply click a word, then click the word beside it to grow the selection into a phrase. Hold Alt when you would rather the page have your click — or invert that in the settings, so Alt is what asks for a lookup and an ordinary click is left alone. ON GOOGLE Search "define serendipity", "what does ubiquitous mean", or "translate ledge to spanish", and a card appears above the results with the definition and the translation. WHAT COMES BACK • Up to four meanings per word, from Wiktionary — the first definition is often not the one you just heard. • A translation into your language: Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Ukrainian, Polish, Japanese or Chinese. • One click to save, which keeps the surrounding sentence, the page or video it came from, and the meaning that actually fit. AND THEN, AT MVOCABY.COM Saved words get spaced-repetition review and quizzes, and a map that groups your vocabulary into topics on its own, so related words are learned together. You can also build your own collections and share a word list with someone else. LOOKING UP IS FREE, AND NEEDS NO ACCOUNT Definitions work signed out. An account — also free — is needed only to save words and to get translations. PRIVACY The pages you browse never enter our analytics: no page URLs, no page content. Your translated sentences and your email address are never included anywhere. There are no advertising trackers and no cross-site tracking, and anonymous usage statistics can be switched off in the extension's own settings.
