Point at a word in English video subtitles to see its Russian translation in context. Right-click to save it for review. For Russian speakers learning English: watch films and series with English subtitles and pick up words without turning the movie into a lesson. HOW IT WORKS 1. Pause the video. 2. Point at an unfamiliar word in the subtitles — the Russian translation appears. 3. Right-click — the word is saved to My Words together with the line from the film. THE MEANING THAT FITS THE PHRASE HoverSub reads the whole line, not just the word: in "They moved the court to the capital" capital is «столица», in "We need more capital to start the business" it is «капитал». A sentence split over two subtitles is translated as a whole. Under the word you see the whole line translated, with the word highlighted, and its pronunciation in Russian letters with the stress marked: reluctant [рэЛАКтэнт]. MY WORDS AND REVIEW • Word and translation in dictionary form (pencils → pencil), the line exactly as in the film. • The time in the video and the page where you met the word. • Review cards — Still learning / I know it: words come back after 1, 3, 7, 16, 35 and 80 days. • Search, edit translations, export to CSV (Anki, Excel) and back up. A CALM INTERFACE Soft colours, one large translation, very little extra text — easy on the eyes if busy screens tire you (for example with ADHD). Respects the system "reduce motion" setting. WHERE IT WORKS Where you turn it on: open a site with a series, click the HoverSub icon → Enable on this site. It works where subtitles are text over the video (most web players), including fullscreen and players embedded from another site. Subtitles burned into the video picture cannot be read. Translates from English into Russian. PRIVACY • Installing it gives access to no website at all — only to the sites where you press Enable on this site. There it reads only the subtitle text over a video. No screenshots. • To translate, the word you point at and its subtitle line are sent to Google Translate. Nothing goes anywhere else. • Your word list stays in your browser. No sign-up, no ads, no analytics.
