Purity Next cleans up & customises Facebook, letting you filter out the junk you don't want to see Purity Next cleans up Facebook. It hides the ads, sponsored and suggested posts, app spam and side boxes you never asked for, and gives you a settings panel to decide exactly what your news feed shows. Purity Next is a rewrite by Steven Fernandez of F.B. Purity, the Facebook filtering extension Stephen Fernandez started in 2009 and that hundreds of thousands of people used. WHAT IT HIDES • Ads and sponsored posts, including the obfuscated "Sponsored" markup Facebook keeps changing • Suggested for you, Follow / Join suggestions, Reels and short videos, Stories • People You May Know, Games, Marketplace and other side boxes • "Became friends", "Joined a group", "Commented on this", "Shared a memory" and other filler post types • Posts containing words or phrases you choose (custom text filter, ideal for spoilers or topics you are tired of) • Photos, videos or the entire news feed, if you want a quiet Facebook WHAT IT FIXES • Keeps the news feed on Feeds (Most Recent) instead of Facebook's algorithm • Sets your own default comment sort: All comments or Newest • Turns off autoplay so videos wait for a click • Normalises the big-font coloured-background statuses • Hides the notifications popup and offline friends in chat WHAT IT ADDS • Alerts when a friend removes you, deactivates or changes their name (press F to see the last alert again) • A "Show deactivated friends" link on your friends page • Font, font size, background colour and background image for the whole site • Custom CSS for anything else • An allow list so posts from people and pages you choose are never filtered • Export and import of your settings HOW TO USE IT Install, open Facebook and click the green droplet button at the top of the page (or the Purity Next link above the first post). Every option is a switch. Settings are saved per Facebook account, in your browser only. PRIVACY Purity Next runs entirely inside your browser. It does not collect, transmit or sell any data. Nothing about your Facebook activity ever leaves your computer. The only network request it makes is to puritynext.com to check whether there is news about a new version. Purity Next is free.
