A local text-first display for Instagram Direct with visual presets, corner controls, and notification prompt support. Opening Instagram to send DM at work, school, or a library can make the standard chat interface feel a little conspicuous when other people can see your screen. Instagram DM Secret Mode restyles Instagram Direct as a minimal, text-first interface for a less distracting messaging view. - It restyles the standard interface on the Instagram Direct inbox page ( https://www.instagram.com/direct/inbox/ ) as a text-based, coding-like CLI. - Open conversations appear as plain text on a black background, without chat bubbles or profile images, reducing the visual cues of a conventional chat window. - While CLI mode is active, the browser tab title changes from “Instagram” to “Notes,” and the Instagram favicon is replaced with a blank favicon. - A keyboard shortcut lets you quickly switch between Instagram’s original interface and the CLI text view. This extension changes only how Instagram Direct is displayed in your browser. It is not a privacy or security tool and does not hide activity from Instagram, browser history, device administrators, employers, schools, or network monitoring.
