Copy a website's visual style into DESIGN.md — colors, type, and components you can paste into AI to recreate the design. Replica.md lets you copy the visual style of any website into a DESIGN.md file. Open a page, click the toolbar icon, and the extension reads computed styles — palette, type scale, radii, spacing, buttons, cards, nav, and footer — then writes a design-system spec an AI coding assistant can follow. What it does - Samples the active tab after you click the icon. It does not scan the web in the background. - Builds a DESIGN.md with YAML tokens plus prose sections (overview, color, type, layout, components, do's and don'ts). - Lets you copy the markdown, copy a ready-to-paste AI prompt, or download a .md file. Who it is for - Designers and builders who want to restyle their own product using a live site as visual reference. - Anyone prompting an AI to implement a site and needing concrete hex values, type specs, and component measurements. How it works 1. Visit any http(s) page. 2. Click Replica.md in the toolbar. 3. Review the sampled palette and fonts. 4. Copy DESIGN.md or the AI prompt into your chat, then describe your own content. Recreate the visual language; do not copy the original brand, logo, or copy. Privacy and control - All sampling and markdown generation run locally in the browser. - Replica.md does not send page content to a server or call an AI API. - The last capture stays in session storage until the browser session ends. - The original site remains unchanged. The extension does not post, purchase, or modify accounts.
