Local AI-powered prompt manager with versioning and Ollama integration. PromptForge is a privacy-first prompt manager for Chrome. Write, organize, version, translate, and reuse prompts while working with supported AI websites. Your prompt library is stored locally in Chrome. PromptForge has no developer-operated storage or synchronization backend. PROMPTS WHERE YOU NEED THEM Open the floating panel on a supported website to search your library, copy a prompt, or insert it into the current input box. Direct insertion is optional and requires permission for each supported website. If permission is not granted, PromptForge copies the prompt to your clipboard instead. You can also enable Hot Corner mode for a smaller, less intrusive way to open the panel. ORGANIZE YOUR LIBRARY The full-page library provides tools for creating and managing prompts: • Search titles, content, tags, and categories • Filter prompts by category or language • Sort, favorite, and archive prompts • Save tags and categories • Track recently used prompts • Restore earlier versions • Export and import JSON backups • Merge imported prompts by UUID or replace the library REUSABLE VARIABLES Add variables with #variable_name# syntax. When you use the prompt, PromptForge displays a form for entering each value before the completed prompt is copied or inserted. MULTILINGUAL PROMPT MANAGEMENT PromptForge supports English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. It can detect a prompt’s language offline, display language badges, and filter the library by language. You can also translate prompts or convert between Traditional and Simplified Chinese. Translated prompts can be saved as new versions or forked into separate, language-linked entries. Linked prompts display language controls so you can quickly move between versions. The PromptForge interface is localized according to your browser language. OPTIONAL AI FEATURES Connect PromptForge to an Ollama endpoint running locally or in the cloud. AI-assisted tools can: • Improve a prompt in its current language • Generate multiple alternative versions • Translate prompts • Convert between Traditional and Simplified Chinese • Suggest a title, tags, and category • Use thinking mode with compatible models AI features are optional. PromptForge sends content only to the Ollama endpoint configured by the user. For local Ollama installations, no special Origin configuration is normally required. FOLDER SYNC Folder Sync keeps your library in a single JSON file inside a folder you select. This can be a local folder or one managed by your preferred cloud-sync application. The synchronization system detects changes, merges edits from multiple copies, tracks deletions, and resolves conflicts using the most recent edit. Synchronization runs while a PromptForge tab is open and can also be started manually. Compatible browsers can access the selected folder directly. Browsers that restrict folder access can use the optional PromptForge Native Messaging helper after a one-time installation. PRIVACY AND USER CONTROL • Your main prompt library is stored in Chrome’s local extension storage • PromptForge does not operate a prompt-storage or synchronization server • Website access is requested separately for direct insertion • Content scripts insert prompts but do not read existing conversations • Clipboard mode works without access to provider websites • Language detection runs offline • Folder Sync is disabled until you configure it • The native sync helper communicates only with the locally installed extension • PromptForge does not sell prompt data or use it for advertising When you use a cloud Ollama endpoint, the selected prompt is sent to that endpoint for processing. When you insert or submit a prompt on another website, that website handles it under its own terms and privacy policy. If you select a folder managed by a cloud-sync application, that application may upload the synchronization file.
