Fold any website into a calmer dark or light palette. Per-site brightness, contrast, and a dusk clock. Themes stay in the tab. Gloamkit is a twilight toolkit for Chrome. It reads the surface palette a site already uses, then rebuilds a dusk or day theme around it — without the crude full-page invert that wrecks photos and brand colours. Images and logos keep their real colours; it is the surrounding UI that changes. The result should feel like the site grew a night mode, not like someone flipped a negative filter over the tab. Choose Dusk, Day, or Auto from the field panel. Fine-tune brightness, contrast, and warmth per domain so a bright docs site and a dim news site do not have to share one blunt setting. Hold Gloamkit on a single domain when a site already ships a theme you prefer. An optional watch switches modes on a local dusk-to-dawn clock without calling an external sunset API. Themes aim to apply early, before the first paint settles, so you spend less time staring at a white flash. Keyboard shortcuts let you toggle the kit or the current target (Alt+Shift+G and Alt+Shift+K). Preferences can follow Chrome Sync when sync is enabled, so per-site dials travel with the profile you already trust. Gloamkit does not upload page content to build a theme. The work happens in the tab from the styles and colours already present. Use it when you want comfortable reading after dark, calmer contrast on harsh marketing pages, and settings that remember which domains you already tuned. What Gloamkit is not: it is not a guarantee that every site on the web will theme perfectly, and it is not a full accessibility suite that replaces OS contrast tools. Some pages already dark-mode well; some fight any overlay. Per-domain dials exist so you can keep the wins and skip the fights. Arm the sites that need it. Leave the rest on hold.
