Import the recipe you're looking at into your recipe bank, and drop it onto your meal plan. Found a recipe you want to cook? Click once. It lands in your recipe bank, on the night you choose, with its ingredients on your grocery list. This is the companion extension for WhatAreWeMakingForDinner, a meal planner for households that keeps a rolling two-week dinner plan, a pantry, and a shopping list that knows what you already have. An active WhatAreWeMakingForDinner account is required — the extension is the "save this" button for a plan you already keep. HOW IT WORKS 1. You're reading a recipe. Click the toolbar icon. 2. The extension reads that page and pulls out the real recipe: ingredients with amounts, times, servings, and the steps. 3. Check the preview, set your servings, and either file it in your recipe bank or drop it straight onto a night of your plan. 4. Its ingredients join your grocery list, netted against what's already in your pantry. WHY IT READS THE PAGE INSTEAD OF THE URL Plenty of recipe sites block anything that isn't a real browser. Because the capture happens in the tab you already have open, pages that defeat a server-side importer come through fine. NO MORE RETYPING Ingredient lines are parsed into amounts and units and matched to the same ingredient catalogue the rest of the app uses, so "2 cups (packed) baby spinach" becomes something your grocery list can add up. Instructions are re-written in the app's own words rather than copied — we credit and link back to the original. WHAT IT ASKS FOR Close to nothing, and deliberately so: • No content script runs on the sites you visit. There is no background page watching, and no list of where you've been. • Chrome grants access to one tab, at the moment you click the icon (the "activeTab" permission) — never before, never to any other tab. • The only server it can reach is WhatAreWeMakingForDinner's own API. • No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no remotely loaded code. • Disconnect it any time from Preferences → Browser extension, or just uninstall it — the pairing token is the only thing it stores.
