Atlas assisted capture and page mapping for website assessment Atlas assisted capture is the companion extension for Atlas, the website assessment platform by GovTech Africa. It is for authorised programme staff working on an Atlas assessment, and needs an Atlas account and a task issued from the Atlas console. Assisted capture Some websites refuse automated scanners or show a bot check. When that happens, Atlas issues a capture task. You open the website in your own Chrome, pass any check by hand, and the extension measures the site using the same page reader as the Atlas scanner. This extension requires a token from the Atlas console. For each page it measures, the extension records the page's responses, a full-page screenshot and the rendered page. Each file is fingerprinted (SHA-256) before upload. Chrome shows its "is debugging this browser" bar while the extension reads the tab; this is how it reads the page's responses. Page mapping Atlas needs to know where each institution keeps the pages it needs to assess: the contact page, the privacy notice, the services list and others. In mapping mode you browse an institution's site and mark each page as you find it, or record that the site has no such page. The extension checks each page's content as you mark it and saves a screenshot with your mark.
