Open Textxt in Chrome Side Panel. Textxt Sidebar opens Textxt directly inside Chrome Side Panel. What this extension does: - Opens Textxt in a persistent right-side panel - Lets you keep your current webpage visible while using Textxt - Shows unread count badge on the extension icon (based on Textxt page title) - Automatically gives Textxt AI Assistant the currently open Gmail thread or WhatsApp Web conversation when you submit a relevant question from the Side Panel - Provides one-click fallback to open Textxt in a normal browser tab if embedding is blocked How it works: - Click the extension icon in Chrome toolbar - The side panel opens and loads https://textxt.com - Continue browsing while Textxt stays available in the side panel - In Gmail, open an email thread and ask a natural question such as "What did he say?" in AI Assistant - Or click "Read email" for an immediate Vietnamese summary and translation of the open thread - Expanded Gmail threads are read without a fixed email-count limit; a technical payload budget applies only to exceptionally large threads - In WhatsApp Web, open a conversation and ask a natural question such as "What did she say?" - Or click "Read WhatsApp" for an immediate Vietnamese summary and translation of the open conversation - Click "Translate latest" to translate only the newest readable WhatsApp message, or ask for a specific amount such as "Translate the latest 5 messages" Permissions used: - sidePanel: required to open and control the Chrome Side Panel - activeTab: grants temporary access only to the page where the user invokes Textxt - scripting: runs the packaged Gmail or WhatsApp Web text extractor when the user submits an AI Assistant request from the Side Panel - host permission for https://textxt.com/*: required to run the packaged Textxt bridge The extension does not request browsing-history access or persistent access to Gmail or WhatsApp Web. Conversation content is read only when the user submits a related AI Assistant question or invokes a Read action, and only from the active open Gmail thread or WhatsApp Web conversation. It is not read when the panel opens or in the background. Privacy note: - The extension does not sell user data or use website content for advertising. - The packaged bridge reads only the numeric unread prefix from the Textxt page title and keeps that state locally for the toolbar badge. - When the user submits a related AI Assistant question or invokes a Read action from the Side Panel, the packaged extractor reads visible text from the currently open Gmail thread or main WhatsApp Web conversation. When a WhatsApp request specifies the newest message or a concrete count, only that requested newest portion is sent. Compose fields, unrelated inbox/chat-list content, quoted WhatsApp replies, and reactions are excluded where detected. - The extracted plain text is sent through the Textxt app to the selected AI provider only with the user's Assistant request. Raw source text is not stored in Assistant history; limited metadata is retained for audit and display. The saved AI answer may reflect information from the shared conversation. - Authentication and app data handling are performed by Textxt web app at https://textxt.com.
