Jump between web pages with keyboard commands. Hopbar is a URL command bar for faster web navigation. Press a keyboard shortcut, type a short command, and jump directly to the page you need. Hopbar is designed for web apps where repeated navigation takes too many clicks: SaaS dashboards, admin panels, internal tools, GitHub, Jira, staging environments, customer pages, monitoring systems, and more. Instead of opening bookmarks, editing URLs by hand, or clicking through menus, you can turn common navigation paths into simple keyboard commands. WHY HOPBAR? Normal bookmarks are great for fixed links, but they do not work well when the URL changes by customer, project, repository, ticket, tenant, or environment. For example, if you are on: https://staging.example.com/customers/acme/dashboard you can type: billing and Hopbar can open: https://staging.example.com/customers/acme/billing Move to another customer, type the same command, and Hopbar keeps the current context. Same command. Different page. Less clicking. WHAT YOU CAN DO * Open fixed links with global bookmark keywords * Create site-specific shortcuts based on the current URL * Extract values such as customer, project, repo, ticket, or environment from URLs * Build dynamic target URLs with templates like /customers/{customer}/billing * Run commands with arguments, such as :ticket 123 * Copy, clean, or transform the current page URL * Edit query parameters from the command bar * Capture the visible area of the current page and copy it to the clipboard * Open links in the current tab, a new tab, a background tab, or copy the target link HOW IT WORKS Hopbar gives you three simple ways to navigate: 1. Bookmarks Use short keywords to open fixed links from anywhere. 2. Site shortcuts Create shortcuts that reuse variables from the current URL, such as a customer slug, GitHub owner/repo, Jira project, or issue key. 3. Commands with arguments Run typed commands like :ticket 123 to build and open URLs from input values. You can manage bookmarks, site shortcuts, variables, and commands from a visual settings page. No code is required, and advanced users can customize URL variables and templates when needed. KEYBOARD-FIRST Hopbar is designed to stay out of your way. Open it with a browser shortcut, type what you need, and press Enter. You can also open results in a new tab, open in a background tab, or copy the target link without leaving the keyboard. PRIVACY & PERMISSIONS Hopbar uses minimal extension permissions. It does not request broad access to every website, and it does not require <all_urls> host access. The command bar is injected only after you trigger Hopbar on the active tab. Your bookmarks, rules, and settings are stored in browser storage. Hopbar does not need a server to manage your shortcuts. LIMITATIONS Like other browser extensions, Hopbar cannot run on special browser pages such as chrome:// pages, the Chrome Web Store, or some built-in browser pages. Set up your shortcuts once, then navigate faster from the keyboard.
