Live bilingual subtitles for videos, meetings, lectures, and livestreams in your browser. Understand the audio playing in your browser with live bilingual subtitles. Live Subtitles places the detected speech and its translation directly over the video, meeting, lecture, podcast, or livestream you are watching. START IN ONE CLICK After a short sign-in and language setup, click the toolbar icon to start subtitles on the current tab. Click again to stop. The movable overlay keeps its controls beside the words instead of sending you to a separate popup. WHAT IT DOES • Detects the spoken language automatically • Shows the translation and optional original transcript together • Translates into Chinese, English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, or Vietnamese • Works with audio playing in a supported website tab, including meetings and livestreams. Chrome's own pages, the Chrome Web Store, and copy-protected media cannot be captured • Shows your remaining time on the overlay while subtitles run • Pauses automatically when playback stops, so paused time costs nothing PRIVATE BY DESIGN • Capture starts only after you invoke the extension on the current tab • No microphone or camera access • No extension code runs on every website; the overlay is injected on demand • Audio goes from your browser straight to the speech provider that produces the subtitles, over an encrypted connection, using a short-lived credential issued for that session. It never passes through a Live Subtitles server • Audio, transcript text, translation text, tab titles, and visited URLs are not retained by Live Subtitles • Usage history contains only start, end, consumed duration, and status and is retained for 12 months ACCOUNT AND HOURS Sign in with Google. New accounts receive 1 free starter hour. A US$4.99 monthly plan includes 10 hours — 50 cents an hour — or choose a one-time pack: 5 hours for US$3.99, 15 for US$10.99, or 40 for US$24.99. Unused monthly hours reset each billing period; starter and pack hours never expire. Stripe securely handles checkout and billing details. An active session continuously streams tab audio from start to stop, including silence, and consumes time based on audio forwarded for interpretation. Automated subtitles can be delayed or inaccurate, so do not rely on them for emergencies or professional interpretation.
