WHAT IT DOES • Right-click any PDF link on any site → “Read link in Phloem” • Or click the toolbar button while viewing a PDF • The paper opens in Phloem at houfu72.com/reading.html, ready to read Because the extension downloads with your own browser session, papers you can access through your university or library open the same way. WHAT PHLOEM GIVES YOU • A comfortable reading guide — yellow line focus or tint, one column or the full page • Select a term for a Wikipedia definition and image, with optional DeepSeek explanations for technical phrases • Ask AI about the current page, a selection, or the passage inside your guide • Zen auto-scroll for focused reading, with calm day and night modes • A phone-friendly book mode with real headings, italics, figures inline, and two-column papers placed in reading order • Highlights, margin notes, and whole-paper search • Spaced self-review: notes and highlights ripen into recall cards • A local-first library: papers, notes, and highlights stay on your device PRIVACY, PLAINLY The extension collects no personal data and includes no analytics. It downloads only the PDF you explicitly request, directly from the site hosting it, using your browser session, and briefly holds the file locally while handing it to Phloem. Your Phloem library lives in your browser. Optional Wikipedia lookups, DeepSeek questions, Google Drive sync, and GitHub import run only when you choose to use or configure them. Selected text is sent to an AI provider only when you explicitly ask a question or request an explanation.
